Position: Principal SQL Engineer

(Arlington Heights, Illinois)

Duties: Responsible for writing complex stored procedures and performance-

tuning the database for multiple complex web applications. Will write large-

scale, high transaction applications that leverage SQL for performance

reasons to help scale the company’s products. Will create programming

standards design and program complex business logic in the database, and

address issues related to performance and scalability for the database on a

high-volume OLTP system. Will troubleshoot and resolve serious SQL Server

production issues. Will provide mission-critical production support,

develop software, and improve the internal Agile development process. Will

interface with DBAs responsible for administering the production databases,

and work independently on modules and engineering tasks. Will mentor team

of ASP.NET/C# developers on SQL Server 2014. Will design replication

topology to support high-volume OLTP data replication and utilize Ignite

and Data Management Tools for troubleshooting and statistical data analysis

to address real-time replication performance issues. Will troubleshoot

EntityFramework performance issues and develop effective strategies for

single-tenant and multi-tenant databases including determining optimal

methods to page and sort large lists. Will perform tuning and queries with

highly secured financial applications. Will apply Microsoft Early Adopter

skills for SQL Server 2014, to understand new features and enhancements to

help payroll calculations and processing.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical

Engineering, or related field (willing to accept foreign education

equivalent) plus 5 years’ experience utilizing SQL Server running in a

VMWare ESX-Server virtual environment, or in the alternative, No degree and

7 years’ experience utilizing SQL Server running in a VMWare ESX-Server

virtual environment. Experience must include: Demonstrated expertise (DE)

developing complex SQL stored procedures within a payroll application

domain, and troubleshooting complex payroll, tax, and W2 calculation

queries as well as high-volume transactional Time & Attendance

applications; DE performance tuning a high-volume multi-terabyte SQL Server

database and providing support to critical applications in a 24x7 OLTP

environment; DE performing SQL Server Clustering, Transactional

Replication, SSIS, Reporting Databases, Resource Governor, FileStream, NUMA

Architecture, ColumnStore Indexes, In-Memory Tables, Always On High

Availability Group, 64 Bit SQL Server with at least 64 processors and 256GB

of RAM; DE utilizing a robust, extensible Payroll Calculation engine that

determines the appropriate tax withholdings in all US states (including

county and city taxes) for all possible scenarios (single, married, married

filing separately, living in 2 states during a year or working and residing
