Job Description:
The Office of Strategic Communication is seeking a Senior
Director for Marketing Communications who will provide strategic
leadership for institutional marketing communications. Working
under the general executive direction of the Vice President for
Strategic Communication, the Senior Director will direct the
universitys centralized branding and positioning strategies and
activities within the Office of Strategic Communication, and
collaborate with people across the institution to build a proactive
and strategic approach to marketing based on partnerships to
achieve key institutional outcomes. The Senior Director for Marketing Communications will create and
oversee the implementation of comprehensive annual marketing plans,
including paid, shared and direct communication and will coordinate
planning with the Senior Director for News Media Relations to
assure that the strategies for paid, direct and shared media are
closely aligned to the earned media strategy. In addition, the
Senior Director will work closely with senior leadership in
enrollment management (admissions) to create annual student
recruitment marketing plans, and lead efforts to develop focused
marketing plans for specific high-priority program and
initiatives. Required qualifications are a Bachelors degree (Masters
preferred) preferably Business, Marketing, Journalism, Mass
Communications, Advertising, Public Relations or a related field;
at least 7 years work in a professional or managerial role in
marketing communications or a closely related field (e.g.,
advertising, journalism, sales management, news media relations);
experience supervising people and leading teams; experience
managing the brand and position of a large or complex organization;
experience managing a marketing channel or channels (e.g., paid
advertising, direct response, personal sales, or social media); and
demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse
environment and/or demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse
environment. Desirable qualifications include a track record of building
professional relationships with staff, organizational leaders,
journalists, and key influencers; outstanding verbal and written
communication skills; experience developing strategic,
research-based communication plans; and experience in higher
education, health care, government or non-profit organizations. Salary is ,000 to commensurate. Application deadline is July 25,
