Career Opportunities with Illinois Action for Children Under the
direction of the Assistant Director of Finance, the Finance
Coordinator processes monthly accounts payable for a Federally
funded program in excess of $5 million annually, serves a backup
for the payroll administrator, serves as backup for the agency's
accounts payables clerk, processes receivables, and maintains
detailed accounting records of various other agency financial
transactions. All work to be completed with minimum supervision and
in accordance with Organization standards. This incumbent will be
expected to promote and adhere to the workplace core capabilities

organizational standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include but are not limited to the following. The organization
reserves the right to add to, delete, change or modify the
essential duties and responsibilities at any time.
- Process payables for the Early Learning Program.
- Serves as a daily back-up on Agency and Food Program payables
- Processes and maintains overpayment from child care
- Performs receivables job function. Maintains permanent records
- Processes cash bank deposits. Assists in coding and recording
cash receipts to
proper cost centers and/or revenue accounts
- Prepares monthly Medical and Dental Insurance bills for
- Updates and enters monthly personnel, dental and medical
according to fiscal year budget.
- Maintains daily cash-log to ensure availability of funds for
- Assists in the preparation year end schedules for the
organization's annual fiscal

discretion. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job
successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential
duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are
representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in accounting
preferred. Associate's degree required. Two to three year
experience in Payroll, Accounts Payables and/or General Accounting
is required. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple
instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write
simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information
in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and
other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability
to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest,
commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and
volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to
carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables
in standardized situations. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Ability
