If you enjoy working with team members whose defining characteristics are achievement, initiative, professionalism, responsiveness and adaptability, you may be the person we are seeking to join our Finance - Operations department in Chicago as a Billing Manager - U.S. The Billing Manager- US co-leads the Firms US Billing function which is responsible for executing the monthly invoicing cycle for the Firms U.S. partners. In collaboration with a peer manager and in support of the departmental head, among key responsibilities of this role are developing strategies, managing assigned personnel, ensuring sustained operational excellence, providing exemplary customer service to Firm partners and innovating. While this position requires tactical billing expertise, the nature of the role is one of strategy, leadership, talent management, and driving process superiority.
ResponsibilitiesGeneral

  • Ensures sustained operational excellence in execution of the U.S. WIP cycle
  • Leads, develops and mentors assigned staff
  • Serves as a dynamic and inspiring leader throughout the Firm
  • Fosters an empowering, collaborative work culture
  • Ensures elite customer service to Firm partners and clients
  • Identifies partner support needs; creatively drives solutions
  • Effectively solves problems
  • Forges strong working relationships with partners and administrative colleagues
  • Applies insights provided by data and departmental metrics
  • Conceives new ideas, innovates, leverages technology
  • Collaborates with and supports peer finance and administrative departments
  • Ensures compliance with Firm deadlines and policies
  • Supports utilization of departmental systems and related upgrades
  • Leads/supports Firm and departmental projects
  • At the forefront of industry trends, technologies and best practices
  • Performs other duties as assigned
    Tactical
    • Continually develop expertise on:
    • Assigned personnels tasks and responsibilities
    • The legal billing cycle
    • The Firms billing practices and key billing dynamics
    • The Firms billing and eBilling software
    • Data and the departments performance metrics Qualifications
      • Bachelors Degree, strongly preferred
      • Minimum five years in a billing environment, required; legal billing, strongly preferred
      • Minimum three years in a leadership capacity, required
      • Expert level knowledge of billing required, legal billing knowledge strongly preferred
      • Strong knowledge of billing software required, legal billing software, strongly preferred, Aderant experience a plus
      • Strong eBilling knowledge, preferred
      • Advanced Microsoft Suite expertise, required
      • Strong, dynamic leadership presence
      • Proven ability to manage a group with diverse personalities and skill sets
      • Natural ability to influence, inspire and drive positive change
