Summary of Position
Pine Tree is seeking a dynamic, career-minded and accomplished
accounting professional to join our growing team as a Real Estate
Tax Accountant. The Real Estate Tax Accountant will be responsible
for the tax compliance process, including oversight and management
of all tax filings and returns prepared by the tax firms in a
timely and accurate manner. Coordinates and leads discussion of tax
structuring between management and outside parties, including tax
firms. Knowledge of real estate tax matters as it pertains to REIT
structures rules and partnerships is critical.
- Responsible for all tax reporting and filing requirements of
the company, including filing prepared tax returns, estimates for
year-end earnings and profits and 1099-DIV allocation and all other
related filings. Effective oversight of tax firm responsible for
return preparation and coordination with in-house staff.
- Responsible for taxable income projections, updated
periodically for actual results and/or possible transactions.
- For all tax projects and process, establishes deadlines,
project timeframes, and prioritizes workload and ensures that all
tasks are completed in an appropriate manner.
- Monitors REIT compliance of the company and oversight of TRS
transactions. Prepares quarterly and annual REIT compliance tests,
tax provision calculations, tax accruals and all tax related
- Ascertains the needs of various groups supported by the
department to ensure that said needs are met.
Desired Skillsets & Qualifications
- BS/BA in Accounting; CPA preferred. MBA or advanced degree
- 2-3 years progressive experience within real estate accounting
that demonstrates a knowledge of REIT real estate tax experience
- Good understanding of tax compliance
- Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills,
coupled with expert knowledge of Excel
- Proficient with MS Office software and Yardi Voyager
