Address:111 W Monroe - 115 S LaSalleJob Family Group:Finance & AccountingRole Summary/Purpose:As the Sr. Accountant - US P/Wealth Management Controllers Team you will be responsible for monitoring and managing accuracy of accounting entries. Ensuring that entries are timely and compliant, mitigating risks, and supporting customers on system changes. In this role you will be expected to explain variations in accounts and work with business controller and auditors on process improvements.Essential Responsibilities:Ensure the accuracy of the organization's financial results by recognizing and preventing misrepresentation, concealment, or omission of informationPerform monthly balance sheet analyses and cash forecastsAssess processes and evaluate/ensure compliance and controls associated with account reconciliationsDevelop and maintain relationships with Business Controller and other stakeholders in order to implement process improvementsInterface with auditors regarding account reconciliations and control processesIdentify new accounting standards applicable to the business and develop appropriate implementation strategySpecial projects as needed to enhance business compliance and controllershipSupports the execution of strategic initiatives; includes tracking metrics and milestones.Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide accounting insights and recommendations.Identifies opportunities for alignment with accounting / finance processes and other operational processes.Acts as point of escalation on operational matters and matters falling outside of policy.Analyzes financial results to support financial period closing and reporting processes and provide insights and recommendations.Gathers and formats data into regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards for assigned legal entity, business, or group financial information packages.Supports the preparation of journal entries, monthly / quarterly reporting packages and financial statements, including applicable tax payments and reconciliations, in accordance with accounting rules and standards.Provides information and supports the process for internal (e.g. corporate and SOX) and external audits.Reviews supporting documentation, escalating areas of concern and making any necessary amendments.Coordinates and executes specific activities for the implementation of strategic initiatives; includes tracking metrics and milestones.Executes routine tasks (e.g. service requests, transactions, queries, etc.) within relevant service level agreements.Organizes work information to ensure accuracy and completeness.Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on business objectives.Develops knowledge related to business / group accounting requirements and standards.Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.Qualifications/Requirements:Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in accounting or finance (or a high school diploma/GED or equivalent with at least 4 -6years of experience in an accounting or finance role)Certified Public Accountant or Master of Business Administration (MBA) is preferred or near completion of an accounting designation.Minimum 2 years work experience in accounting or finance positionTechnical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.Analytical and problem solving skills - In-depth.Influence skills - In-depth.Data driven decision making - In-depth.Demonstrated financial analysis skills Experience in solving complex problemsExperience with driving process improvementsAbility to deal effectively with changing priorities in a diverse organizationSelf-starter/team playerExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)We're here to helpAt BMO Harris Bank we are driven by a shared Purpose: Boldly Grow the Good in business and life.
