For more information, visit Position Summary The Senior Business Development Coordinator will provide business development and marketing support to the attorneys in the Global Corporate Group, interacting with partners and associates, and other business development and marketing resources across the firm. In addition to providing support for the GCG, this role will work closely with the GCG business development team on the full range of business development and marketing activities with a primary focus on the group's U.S. Corporate practice. This includes supporting a variety of areas of focus from mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, private equity, private funds, transactional tax , emerging growth / venture capital, life sciences transactions through to executive compensation and benefits and wealth planning, across Reed Smith's offices. This is a hands-on role, which will include pitching, client targeting, profile raising and events. The role requires strong organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability and flexibility to manage a large workload. We are therefore seeking a resourceful and dynamic candidate, who possesses excellent attention to detail and the ability to perform under pressure. The position sits within a growing and energetic firm-wide marketing team of professionals. Essential Functions Assist GCG attorneys in identifying business development opportunities with new and existing clients and in executing individual marketing plans; Assist the business development team to implement the strategic business plan of the GCG; Develop tailored pitch and proposal material for GCG opportunities, delivering a first good working document to the attorneys; Assist with global proposals and multi-practice pitches, contributing experience and practice capabilities as needed. Work closely with various legal, business development and marketing professionals to develop and maintain standard practice related presentations or material (standard and customizable capability statements, practice group profiles, matter lists, case studies, bios etc.);; Work closely with the firm in-house pricing team and pitch team on pricing strategies for pitch documents; Look for ways to cross-sell the corporate practice into the firm's key clients - ClientsFirst - as well as work with other practice group BD professionals to identify opportunities where appropriate to cross-sell the corporate group's wide range of services; Utilize the experience tracking tool to ensure matters are accurately and promptly updated; Maintain contacts and key information on the firm's CRM system; Work with PR and branding teams on thought leadership and campaigns to help raise the profile of the GCG both internally and externally and to ensure coverage of successful matters and initiatives in key markets. Develop and execute internal communication strategies, including coordination of GCG newsletters and firm news for new business highlights and client and matters successes. Leads the production of client alert preparation and mailing business development activities within the group. Works on blog postings, social media, podcasts and other marketing platforms Update lawyer and practice group information on the firm's website and intranet; Co-ordinate legal directory submissions with the lawyers' team and help the partners prepare for interviews with legal directory researchers; Liaise with the Finance Department and Client Intelligence Teams to produce financial reports on clients; Collate information on clients and produce briefing notes for partner conferences, speaker events and/or business trips/client meetings; Plan, co-ordinate and execute events such as webinars, seminars, roundtables and receptions; Complete special projects as assigned. Work to ensure quality professional product, as well as delivery of all work within established time frames. Conducts client / prospective client research and analysis using library, knowledge management, and accounting resources. Education: Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field preferred. Experience: 3+ years of directly relevant experience in a marketing or business development-related position, including experience in a large law firm or professional services firm. Deep knowledge of the corporate practice, including fund formation, mergers and acquisitions, tax, capital markets, EG/VC and private equity required. A strong business development and marketing acumen and basic legal substantive knowledge is required. Skills: Strong oral and written communications skills with the ability to interact at various levels with confidence and with a customer service attitude. Strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be highly organized with the ability to multi-task, manage workload and competing priorities and pay close attention to details. Must be able to think critically and creatively, present ideas and views clearly and with confidence to people at all levels, including partners and clients. Must be able to demonstrate initiative, be flexible and adaptable and be a team player. Must have a strong focus on customer service delivery while dealing with a variety of personalities and being sensitive to cultural differences and issues.
