The Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Manager plays a critical role in advancing Children's Home & Aid's efforts to promote a culture of belonging and inclusivity. Equity is foundational to all the work we do, and we know that we cannot achieve our without recognizing and authentically celebrating the diversity of the staff in our agency and across the communities we serve. As the EDI Manager, you will be a collaborative member of a multidisciplinary team, providing strategic leadership that will move Children's Home & Aid forward in ensuring the values of equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging are woven into the fabric of all we do, from individual employee support to statewide program development, from public speaking engagements to one-on-ones across a kitchen table. The EDI Manager reports to the Director of Quality and EDI and works closely with both the Human Resources and the Quality, Training, & Performance teams.

What you'll do:

  • Partner with key internal stakeholders in the development of programs and services that celebrate diversity, ensure equity, promote inclusion, and increase the experience of belonging for all staff and clients served.
  • Deliver person-centered, value-driven training to staff across the agency in both site-based and virtual settings, and assist with agency-wide programs that foster learning, empowerment, belonging and celebration of cultural differences and similarities.
  • Engage in ongoing agency assessment in partnership with other internal and external stakeholders, and collaboratively design and manage an effective EDI strategy that incorporates data-informed progress metrics and accountability measures.
  • Assist in shaping agency-wide decisions related to people practices and HR priorities through data, analysis, and recommendations that align with the agency's values.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of EDI strategies and action plans as they relate to recruitment, performance management, leadership development, employee engagement, and retention.
  • Build strong and productive relationships across the agency that welcome and empower others to contribute to and champion organizational growth, development, and change related to EDI.
  • Support an inclusive workplace culture through a continuous EDI learning agenda that promotes equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging, and disrupts unconscious bias, microaggressions, and discrimination.
  • Collaborate with other internal leaders to conceptualize and lead the EDI Committee as well as committees of regional EDI Champions.
  • Design and maintain internal EDI communication and messaging via newsletters, the agency's EDI Sharepoint page, and guest speaker spotlight events.
  • Support the agency in ensuring vendors meet minority/women-owned business enterprise (M/WBE) requirements and represent the communities we serve.
  • Directly supervise the Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion Coordinator.

    Who you are:

    • You have at least a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, or a closely related field.
    • You have at least two years of experience in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion work.
    • You have experience working in a nonprofit organization.
    • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
    • You are forward-thinking and driven to innovate, relying on your analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate complex issues and develop creative, people-centered solutions.
    • You are a skilled communicator who has an engaging presentation style proven to be effective in one-on-one, small group, and large audience settings.
    • You are a natural collaborator, effectively bringing stakeholders together across functions and departments.
    • You relish the opportunity to work with data, including compiling, analyzing, and interpretating information, and using complex reports to tell stories in meaningful and influential ways.

      The details:

      • Location: Hybrid (remote/in office), must be within reasonable driving distance to Chicago and plan to work from the corporate home office at at least once a week. Occasional travel to program sites across Illinois may be required.
      • Schedule: Full-time, salaried; general business hours some flexibility for special projects.
      • Staff are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to submit proof of their vaccination status before their start date unless they have an agency approved medical or religious exemption

        Compensation & Benefits:

        • Salary: $65,000-75,000; offers are commensurate with experience.
