As the Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for journal entries into the financial software system, preparing bank reconciliations, reviewing program meal service reporting, and reviewing early childhood education centers' monthly billing. The Staff Accountant I has the opportunity to grow into an elevated Staff Accountant II position, which includes working closely with the Senior Accountant to complete additional reports and reconciliation. The Staff Accountant reports to the Account Manager. What you'll do :

  • Enter cash receipts for donations and accounts receivable in the financial software system.
  • Review monthly reports from early childhood education centers and prepares online billing for meal program.
  • Reconcile bank accounts through the financial software system and prepares reconciling spreadsheets for approval.
  • Enter monthly journal entries into financial software system of those prepared by others in the department.
  • Assist in physical inventory.
  • Assist in the preparation and follow-up of filings with the Court of Claims to collect aged accounts receivable from State Departments.
  • Work on special projects assigned by Accounting Manager requiring research, review and/or recommendations. Who you are:
    • Staff Accountant I requires an Associate Degree in Accounting or closely related field and/or equivalent combination of related coursework and professional experience. (Equivalent combination must total two years and include at least high school diploma/equivalent.)
    • Staff Accountant II requires an Associate Degree in Accounting or equivalent related coursework (Bachelor's Degree preferred), plus at least one year relevant professional experience including payroll and balance sheet reconciliation.
    • You have an eye for detail and excellent organizational -skills. -
    • Great Plains Dynamics and Management Reporter experience (preferred). -
    • Must be proficient in the use of computer systems including Excel spreadsheets, Outlook, Microsoft Word, and data systems.
    • Schedule : Full-time, hourly; general business hours with some flexibility for special projects.
    • Staff are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to submit proof of their vaccination status before their start date unless they have an agency approved medical or religious exemption. Staff with an exemption will need to provide proof of weekly testing.
    • Salary: -Range starts at $21.63/hr for Staff Accountant I; range starts at $24/hr for Staff Accountant II; offers are commensurate with experience.

    • Winter Break: The agency is closed between Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
