Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join our finance team here at HealthyMD. The ideal candidate will focus on accounts receivable (AR) and reconciliation tasks while supporting general accounting activities. This role ensures accurate financial records, prompt payment processing, and compliance with regulatory and organizational policies.CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Accounts Receivable (AR) Management
  • Prepare and issue invoices to insurance companies and other payers accurately and on time.
  • Monitor and track outstanding balances, follow up on overdue accounts, and ensure timely collections.
  • Reconcile AR sub-ledgers to the general ledger regularly.
  • Review, verify, and process payments received, including checks, electronic transfers, and credit card transactions.
  • Maintain records of billing, payment activity, and account adjustments in the accounting system.
  • Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Process vendor invoices and expense reimbursements in a timely manner.
  • Verify invoice details, including amounts, approvals, and proper coding to accounts.
  • Schedule and prepare payments via checks, ACH, or wire transfers, ensuring compliance with payment terms.
  • Maintain vendor files and address discrepancies or payment inquiries.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card transactions, and other financial accounts.
  • Reconcile patient and payer accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Investigate and resolve variances between system records and supporting documentation.
  • Accounting and Reporting
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and reports, including AR aging reports.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes by providing reconciliation data and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with GAAP and organizational policies.
  • Collaboration and Support
  • Work closely with the billing, collections, and insurance verification teams to resolve payment discrepancies and denials.
  • Assist with audits by providing requested documentation and reconciling AR balances as needed.
  • Support the implementation and improvement of accounting procedures and systems.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
  • Assist with general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and ad hoc financial projects.
  • Provide backup support for other accounting functions as needed.This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.CORE QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.Certification and Licensing: N/AExperience: 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a medical or healthcare organization. Hands-on experience with accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general accounting principles.Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
  • Strong knowledge of AR processes, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar systems).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and other MS Office applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies independently.
