Job Description:
Duties: Reporting to the Manager, Applications & Informatics,
the Business Systems Analyst will be responsible for ensuring that
assigned information systems meet the business needs of all users. Will
be tasked with learning the business operations of the areas supported.
Will assist in the efforts of the hospital to standardize the
processes related to the use of all business applications and software.
Will respond to user requests for assistance regarding the correct
and productive use of business software and modules for the
following areas: Admissions, Billing, Finance, Accounts Payable, FIR, Payroll
and Materials Management. Will act as the liaison between hospital
users, the IS department and system vendors such as MEDITECH, Kronos
and ADP. Will be responsible for working with IS Technology Services
personnel and the hospital users to implement new system enhancements and
resolve day to day system-related problems. Will review and analyze requests for new non-clinical systems or
system enhancements. Will provide planning and direction for assigned
projects; maintain direct communication with department management and
staff personnel; and recommend appropriate staff resources for new
projects. Will thoroughly test all system changes to ensure reliable
operations, implementation of requested initiatives and maintenance of
existing functionality. Will locate or create reports in application
software to meet the needs of the users. Will serve as a liaison between
users and vendors to resolve complex system or functionality issues.
Will investigate, analyze, and coordinate the resolution of
day-to-day user related system problems. Will log tasks/issues in Help Desk
tracking software. Will document action taken and close tickets in an
accurate and timely manner. Will create and maintain departmental
policies and procedures as they relate to non-clinical system tasks. Will
assist users with creation of system function policies and
procedures. Requirements: Associate's degree in computer sciences or related
field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus five years
of experience in the information systems field with at least three
years of experience utilizing MEDITECH systems to create data
repositories and generate reports for hospital administration. Specific
skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirements not
applicable to this section) – must have demonstrated expertise in: utilizing
MEDITECH Data Repository and other SQL-based databases to create
extracts, downloads, reports and links to Office products for data
analysis for hospital administration; utilizing the following MEDITECH
modules: B/AR, ADM, ABS, GL, AP, MM, QM and DR in a Client Server environment
in order to support IS users in the business applications; utilizing
HL7 framework (and related standards) for the exchange,
integration, sharing, and retrieval of electronic health information;
utilizing macros, pivot tables, ODBC linkage, scripting and Visual Basic
to create custom reports for internal customers; utilizing Summit
Interface Engine to link programs sending messages such as HL7, JSON, ADT, DICOM,
CDA, CCD, EDI, FHIR, XML, and X12; writing NPR reports for Meditech
specific reporting scenarios, or to modify existing Meditech NPR reports;
and DE converting NPR reports to SSRS reports to allow greater access
for users outside of Meditech to access data pertinent to their duties.
