Job Description:
Clean Harbors seeks a qualified Class A CDL Equipment Operator
for our Emergency Response team, dedicated to providing rapid
response solutions to environmental emergencies across North
America. This role is pivotal in managing and operating specialized
equipment during emergency spill responses and environmental
clean-up projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and
local regulations, and safeguarding our communities while
prioritizing environmental sustainability and safety. Key tasks
include the operation of heavy equipment, emergency response
deployment, waste management, and on-site cleanup operations.
Operate heavy and complex machinery and trucks over varied terrain
and in adverse conditions. Respond promptly to emergencies
involving hazardous waste spills and other environmental incidents.
Manage on-site operations including containment, cleanup, and waste
disposal according to environmental laws and regulations. Maintain
communication with the Incident Command Center and collaborate with
emergency management teams. Conduct pre-operational checks on
equipment and perform minor repairs to ensure operational safety
and efficiency. Document actions by completing forms, reports,
logs, and records, and provide detailed information on operations
carried out. Proficiency in operating heavy machinery, such as
vacuum trucks, hydro excavators, and other response equipment.
Strong understanding of hazardous materials handling, disposal
regulations, and emergency response protocols. Ability to work
effectively under high-pressure situations and make decisions
quickly. Excellent physical condition and the capability to perform
laborious tasks in various weather conditions. Superb communication
and interpersonal skills to coordinate with team members and
authorities. Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance
Life Insurance 401k Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements. OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
Heavy equipment operation certification or training preferred.
