Responsibilities The Center for Research on Self-Sufficiency
(CROSS) is located in the School of Social Work on Loyola
University Chicago's Water Tower Campus. CROSS maintains a robust
research program in psychological self-sufficiency and also houses
the First Star Academy and TIP Institute. As a leading research
organization, CROSS is engaged in PSS and Transforming Impossible
into Possible (TIP) implementation research within Chicago and
beyond. CROSS focuses on disconnected workers and long-term
unemployed jobseekers, particularly low-income and low-skilled
individuals who lack education and have limited human capital.
Participants at our community partner programs experience a host of
employment barriers, live in areas of concentrated poverty and
joblessness, and have difficulty finding and keeping jobs in the
Chicago region and other areas. In addition, CROSS is engaged in
research with children and adolescents in child welfare programs.
The Research Assistant Professor is required to have expertise to
participate fully and competently in current research projects that
address areas supported by CROSS. This position is a fully grant
funded, non-tenure track position that has a promotion series
leading to Research Associate Professor and Research Professor. The
School of Social Work is committed to having a racially and

development and promotion. Duties and Responsibilities - Supports
ongoing research efforts within the Center - Coordinates manuscript
development by team of collaborating authors - Manages development
and submission of abstracts and manuscripts - Represents the
project at national and local conferences and meetings - Identifies
grant opportunities aligned with Center mission - Supports
applications for internal and external funding; assists in writing
grant proposals in response to funding opportunity announcements
with PI, other faculty collaborators and partners - Assists in
preparing budgets, monitoring expenditures and preparing financial
reports for internal and external constituencies - Assists with
study design, data management and analysis, (including data
collection, coding, data storage, statistical analysis and
interpretation) for workplace/career development research sites as
well as child welfare sites serving children and adolescents. -
Develops, recommends, modifies and implements policies and
procedures and/or methods for child welfare research. - Develops
research protocols and data collection instruments - Manages
research compliance requirements, including submitting and
maintaining IRB approval - Manages requirements of funding agencies
including changes in requirements and their reporting; advises
principal investigator of changes in agency requirements - Oversees
preparation of progress reports for federal agencies and ensures
project is administered according to research protocol and
compliance requirements - Able to work well with a variety of
investigators and research staff at Loyola University and other
universities to continue the bottom-up qualitative research on
participant-centered pathways of success - Collaborates in clinical
practice research with children and adolescents - Conducts Child
and Family Services Review (CFSR) on-site case reviews - Develops
and evaluates an evidence-based Kinship Navigator program model in
a research setting - Teaches one class in the School of Social Work
each semester, for a 1:1 teaching load - Serves as project liaison
to other LUC departments, external organizations, and government
agencies - Supervises Center staff and student workers/interns by
orienting, training and giving ongoing performance feedback -
Performs related responsibilities as required Qualifications
Doctorate in Social Work or related field - 3-5 years of experience
in social work practice and/or research in an area related to
social work - Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite,
SPSS database management, development of graphics for presentations
and publications - Excellent writing and verbal communication
skills - Evidence of strong analytical and planning skills High
attention to detail, maintaining accuracy and consistency -
Demonstrated ability to work independently to meet deliverables and
deadlines - Experience in preparing publications, documents,
reports, and communication materials for mass distribution -
Experience in conference/event planning and grant application
preparation - Experience in Microsoft Office Suite and SPSS
database management Preferred: - 6-10 years of experience as a
practice-informed researcher - Ability to use organizational and
management tools in research project management - Working knowledge
to coordinate research in workforce / career development among
low-income populations as well as in children and adolescents
through child welfare programs - Experience in child maltreatment
and child welfare-related policies and procedures - Experience in
preparing publications, documents, reports, and communication
materials for mass distribution - Experience in conference/event
