DescriptionBridgeport Child Development Center II offers five spacious, inviting classrooms rich with materials and activities for children ages 2-12 years old, including those with special needs. Bridgeport I also features a studio where children participate in music and fine and culinary arts. Our after-school curriculum follows the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) philosophy of enhancing learning by helping children to engage in problem-solving, discovery and exploratory learning through hands-on activities.The talented staff members at Bridgeport I have dedicated their careers to early childhood education and are committed to helping you to be the best teacher you can be. We hope youll consider joining our team!Job Summary:The School Age Teacher will create a stimulating learning environment by:

• Managing the classroom atmosphere, including nurturing children and planning a classroom curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and incorporates STEM activities
• Maintaining communication with parents and providing homework assistance during the school year
• Assisting in planning summer camp activities
• Using positive approaches to help children solve problems
• Arranging the classroom in well-defined learning centers that are clearly labeled, clutter-free, and reflect childrens interests and encourage independent useEducation, Experience and Required Skills
  • DCFS Licensing Requirements -- HS diploma required; students currently in school for Early Childhood Education strongly encouraged to apply! Must have 6 ECE credits with 30 overall credits
  • Knowledge of STEM curriculum and NAEYC accreditation standards
  • Minimum 1 year of experience
  • Flexibility to work full-time hours during the summer and when CPS is closed
  • Hours are 2pm - 6pm Monday through Friday (20 hours)We Invest in You!
