Job Summary

Under the direction of the the Early Head Start/Head Start Manager and Director,
assist in overseeing and directing the planning, organizing, and implementation of education services for children, using the adopted curriculum and models and following all Head Start Performance Standards









Job Description

-Create a safe and nurturing environment for children to receive a quality education
-Be a model teacher for the classroom assistant and floaters, volunteers, CSU students, etc.
-Ensure our youngest children have a solid foundation for school readiness and Kindergarten readiness.
-Encourage the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children.
-Promote family engagement in all aspects of the program, to build strong ties between home and school; to establish good relationships with parents, with other staff members, CGU faculty and staff, and CSU students.
-Create a warm and accepting environment and atmosphere for children, parents, families, volunteers, community representatives, CSU Students, staff and faculty.
-Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, federal, state and city regulations and licensing requirements.
-Implement the chosen curriculums to fidelity and maintain accurate and ongoing assessment of all children









Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with a major in Early Childhood Education with a Type 04 Professional Educator License









Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree









Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Meet all University and DCFS hiring requirements, including background check and Physical
Follow all DCFS licensing guidelines
Attend required trainings and professional development opportunities
Knowledge of the Creative Curriculum is desirable

Physical Requirement/ Demands

Prolonged period of sitting, standing, and or crouching to assist children. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
