Us:Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund (DMSF) is Chicago's largest
scholarship-granting organization having been around for 33 years
with almost 3,000 alums. 100% of Murphy Scholars graduate high
school and 87% graduate college within six years. Our staff love
how closely they get to work with Scholars. Additionally, we have a
highly involved and passionate Board and a strong base of
volunteers who support all aspects of our work. Our work varies
from fundraising events to interviewing Scholars to school
visits.
Job Description:Job Type: Full-time, permanent positionSchedule:
9-5 pm (Monday-Friday)Work arrangement: Hybrid (Monday & Wednesday
on-site)Work with the Chief Education Officer and the other members
of the Education Department team to accomplish the educational
directives of DMSF. The Education Department is responsible for:
- Recruiting, interviewing and selecting DMSF Scholars
- The relationship between DMSF, Scholars and families, and its
partnership high schools
- Tracking the academic progress of Scholars and providing the
Scholars with the support they need, such as tutoring, college
counseling, personal support and other programming, to ensure their
success.SpecificsSupport of Current Scholars and their families
- The Education Department is responsible for maintaining close
contact with DMSF's Scholars and their families. The Education
Coordinator will be the main contact for approximately one third to
a half of the Scholars.Maintain relationships with DMSF's
partnership schools
- Build and sustain DMSF's relationships with its partnership
schools through communications with their school counselors,
faculty, registrars, and admissions directorsApplicant engagement
and the placement of ScholarsAbout Us:The Daniel Murphy Scholarship
Fund (DMSF) gives high school scholarship and educational support
to bright Chicago students from economically disadvantaged
backgrounds. DMSF makes a life-altering difference in the lives of
its Scholars by providing them with a four-year scholarship to a
private college preparatory high school and, along with it, access
to the best opportunities to succeed in high school, college and
beyond. DMSF is in its 33rd year of serving Chicagoland area
students and their families. The first four DMSF Scholars began
high school in 1990. This coming school year, over 500 Scholars
will be enrolled in high schools in Chicago and boarding schools
around the country. 100% of Murphy Scholars who apply are accepted
to four-year universities and 87% of Murphy Scholars are persisting
in and graduating from college within six years.
