Job Description:
The National Innovation Association (NIA), a trailblazer in
fostering innovation and supporting inventors, is currently looking
for a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf to join our educational team.
This role is integral to our mission, preparing students with
hearing impairments to thrive in an innovative environment. You
will be responsible for providing specialized education and
support, ensuring that our students are equipped not only with
academic knowledge but also with the innovative spirit that defines
NIA. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
based on each student’s specific needs. Utilize various teaching
methods and tools suited for students with hearing impairments,
including sign language, speech-to-text technology, and visual
aids. Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and families to
facilitate holistic development and integration of students.
Evaluate and assess the progress of students regularly and adjust
teaching methods accordingly. Foster a classroom environment that
is stimulating, accommodating, and supportive. Advocate for the
needs of deaf students within the broader educational framework of
NIA. Engage in continuous professional development to remain
abreast of the latest teaching strategies and technological
advances in deaf education. Proficiency in American Sign Language
(ASL) Strong interpersonal and communication skills Experience with
special education technologies and resources Ability to design and
implement effective IEPs Empathy and patience to work with students
who have varying needs Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision
Insurance Life Insurance State certification in Special Education
(with a focus on deaf education) Certification by the Council on
Education of the Deaf (CED) preferred
