Job Description Job Description Roles & Responsibilities: Estimating & Cost Analysis Review engineering drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and addenda to understand project requirements. Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for trenching, shoring, excavation, pipe installation, tunneling, conduit systems, manholes, vaults, and related underground work. Develop and update cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and production rates. Analyze site conditions such as rock excavation, groundwater, traffic control, and environmental constraints that impact pricing. Prepare cost breakdowns, bid summaries, and alternate pricing scenarios. Bid Preparation Prepare complete bid packages including cost estimates, schedules, clarifications, assumptions, and risk assessments. Identify value-engineering opportunities to optimize cost, constructability, and installation methods. Coordinate and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes, ensuring accuracy and scope alignment. Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and bid reviews.Project Coordination• Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure estimate accuracy and constructability. Provide cost updates and budget forecasts during project transitions from estimate to execution. Assist with change order pricing, cost adjustments, and project updates as needed. Data Management & Documentation Maintain historical cost data, production rates, and pricing libraries for underground construction work. Ensure all estimates follow company standards, safety guidelines, and compliance requirements. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred). 5 years of estimating experience in underground utilities, heavy civil, or related construction discipline. Strong understanding of underground construction methods, equipment, utility installation, and safety practices. Proficiency in reading civil and utility drawings, profiles, and specifications. Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight bid deadlines.
