Controls Engineer

Dynomax, Inc., a fast-growing manufacturer in Wheeling, IL is looking for a Controls Engineer! We are a leading precision machining, molding, components & spindle manufacturing company serving the aerospace, defense, energy, and medical industries since 1986.

General description:

The Controls Engineer is responsible for project implementation from specification to completion; including panel layout and design, PLC programming, SCADA/HMI programming, robot programming, customer interaction, startup and training.

Candidate must have strong organizational skills and the ability to document bills of material, schematics and wire lists. Develop and maintain instrumentation and control systems for internal manufacturing as well as company's product lines.

Required Skills, Experience, and Knowledge:


The Controls Engineer will have proven experience in PLC programming with Siemens or Allen Bradley PLCs (Siemens PLC's preferred)
HMI programming and development.
Robot programming (Epson, Fanuc, Yaskawa preferred) and teaching of points.
PLC I/O fieldbuses background (Profinet, Ethernet I/P, EtherCat, Modbus TCP, Profibus, etc.)
Creating/modifying electrical schematics for new equipment using AutoCAD based on NFPA guidelines.
BOM creation, electrical component selection, and panel layout.
Strong knowledge of VFD's, Servo Systems, AC Induction Motors, Encoders, Resolvers.
Understands and has worked with Motor Starters, Overloads, Relays, Circuit Breakers, Fuses, Power Supplies, PB's, Selector Switches, Proximity switches, Pressure Switches, Flow Switches
Thorough understanding of pneumatics components, diagrams, solenoid valves, check valves, flow control valves, dump valves, regulators, etc.
Proficiency with Test Equipment (Multimeters, Ammeters, Data Loggers, Scopes etc.)
The Controls Engineer will commission, start-up, and troubleshoot new or existing electrical installations.
Competent with MS Office (Excel/Word)
Self-motivated and can work with limited direction
Meticulous, conscientious, analytical, objective-driven individual who is a quick learner
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
CNC type equipment knowledge a plus
Keyence, Cognex, or other industrial machine vision programming a plus
Familiarity with Visual Basic, VBS (Visual Basic Scripting) ,C#, python, or ruby, a plus
3+ years of software development experience involving testing for controls and related automation applications is required
Experience with servo controlled motion applications preferred
Up to 10% travel possible


Required Education:


Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, and/or other degrees / demonstrated industry experience
