Our main activities are in engineering, marketing, sales, and
everything that goes along to
support that. With a team of 150 we're headquartered in Chicago,
USA, and have offices
in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Southeast Asia.The role &
responsibilities
Workforce.com is seeking a software engineer to join our platform
infrastructure team.
This role will be focused on both infrastructure and application.
The team owns all code
that sits below features to ensure all our products are running
smoothly in production and
developers can work on them productively.
The goal of the team is site reliability and enabling developer
productivity.
The ideal candidate will bring to the table:
--- Minimum 1 years Rails experience (REQUIRED)
--- SQL Database experience is preferred
--- Experience with AWS will be useful but not required
The person
To be successful in this role you must have a solid ability for
understanding the business
goals; e.g. - to be able to "move quickly and not break things", we
understand the value
of investing in our production and development environments for
security, stability,
functionality and developer workflow. An ideal candidate should
understand the value of strong communication skills. We work in a
productive environment, where we focus on shipping often and
getting real feedback early.
To give you an idea of the work, here's some recent things we've
done:
--- Designed a multi-tenant SaaS architecture that will let us
support the next 10
years of SME and enterprise customers.
--- Designed the architecture for containerising a large Ruby on
Rails app, and
worked with engineers to set it up on Docker.
--- Upgraded production instances of PostgreSQL.
--- Supported oncall engineers with DataDog and Opsgenie
configuration and
incident response.
--- Tuned production health checks to make them more reliable, and
worked
with engineers to add new health checks for critical production
components.
--- Upgraded our open source product (Metabase) in response to a
CVE.
And some things we want to do:
--- Split out continuous deployment from our continuous integration
to reduce
issues around concurrent deployment.
--- Transition our Postgres databases to Aurora clusters.
--- Practice run of our disaster recovery runbooks.
