Sr. Lead, Software Engineer


Shared Services has an exciting new role which will provide technical leadership for the TAX application. This key role is responsible to providing strategic direction of all TAX applications and upstream and downstream applications interfacing with TAX , estimating all business project and docket requests and consulting within the TAX application. This resource will be responsible to onshore and offshore project resource allocation and oversight.


Analyzes existing all TAX applications in order to implement strategic TAX vended application and migrate data from existing apps to strategic TAX app. Continuously evaluate and recommends modifications which will enhance operating capacity and meet business requirements. Provides consulting/guidance and assistance to the staff in the installation and testing of new operating system/DB releases and in fine tuning of existing systems software. Has specific knowledge or expertise typically gained through formal education or equivalent experience. Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines. Solves complex problems. Works independently; receives minimal guidance. May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Major Duties

  • Acts as technical expert on these applications when interfacing with other teams, both internal and external, and senior management.
  • Partners with Business and internal upstream/downstream IT teams to evaluate complex requirements to develop and deliver strategic solutions as well as defining a strategic roadmap to modernize the applications.
  • Identifies appropriate technical solutions that provide business value while mitigating technical debt and designs system requirements for complex software development projects.
  • Engages in high level break/fix support during Production Firecall scenarios and assists with Production issues when higher level analysis is required.
  • Works within an Agile scrum team framework. Taking stories and tasks through sprint, participates actively with product backlog refinement, daily standup and bi-weekly sprint boundary meetings.
  • Coordinates with Software Quality Management teams on SIT and UAT testing dependencies and timelines
  • Integrates non functional requirements in major projects/dockets
  • Reviews application vulnerabilities, assigns resources for remediation.
  • Ability to think strategically and tactically, with effective decision-making skills.
  • Ensures adherence to organizational policies, guidelines and processes
  • A positive goal orientated attitude with a focus on delivery Knowledge and Skills
    • Hands-on experience in JAVA, Spring framework along with CI (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment tools.
    • Deep understanding of database and technologies in the industry including, RDBMS, SQL, BI tools (Power BI) and performing tasks related to database design, data analysis and data extraction based on business/tech requirements.
    • Knowledge of project management methodology, effective communication, influencing, and organizational skills, must possess initiative to accomplish tasks and make decisions.
    • Knowledge of full software development lifecycle using agile methodology.
    • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
    • Serves as a resource or "go to person" within a group Experience
      • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and 8- 10 years of solid, diverse work experience in all aspects of systems programming, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
      • Experience and understanding of Agile and DevOps methodologies and frameworks
