Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Under direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, assigns jobs and
tasks and monitors the progress of production and maintenance
projects.
Installs, operates, maintains, repairs, lubricates, checks and
troubleshoots complex processing and high speed packaging machinery
and other equipment in the facility.
Performs PM and repair work in accordance with company processes
and procedures. Tracks and supports PM activities.
Documents work and completes reports using NOW's computerized
Maintenance software (CMSS) and paper forms. Initiates purchase
order request forms for parts and supplies.
Provides general production support and training as required.
Trains and mentors lower level maintenance mechanics.
Actively participates in root cause analysis and other plant
continuous improvement initiatives. Recommends and implements
continuous improvement ideas.
Seeks out ways to improve equipment performance and quality of
product. Recommends changes related to equipment use to increase
efficiency. Keeps the supervisor informed of problem areas.
Trains, mentors and orients maintenance employees new to the
department, acquainting them with the details and functions of
their new jobs, and how these responsibilities relate to the
functioning of the company as a whole. Responds to and answers any
questions new employees may have during their scheduled shift
hours.
Operates as a replacement worker for absent or vacationing
mechanics.
Complies with safety and GMP requirements.

QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or
technical school; or two to five years related experience and/or
training (electrical, machine shop, machine troubleshooting,
pneumatics, hydraulics, OSHA standards, lock-out/tag-out, etc.); or
equivalent combination of education and experience. General
knowledge of electric, welding and machine shop required. Food or
pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to
communicate effectively to coworkers and supervisors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and
statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions,
percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of
concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization
exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in
written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Basic computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft
Word and Excel. Must have excellent interpersonal, coaching,
training and team-building skills. Excellent organizational,
planning and attention to detail. Initiative to complete tasks on
time with minimal supervision required.
Ability to work other shifts and weekends and to travel to other
facilities.

slide, raise and/or place:
Step on and off ladders and equipment at 24 inches.
Grasp 50 lbs. of force.
Push and pull 42 lbs. of force at 36 inches.
Lift up to 60 lbs. from floor to waist.
Lift up to 60 lbs. from 31 inches, carry for 5 feet and return to
31 inch surface.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently
works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently
exposed to herbal aromas, dust, and/or airborne particles. The
employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in

cold, and heat. The employee is required to travel to other
facilities.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
