U.S. Steel is seeking a Process Engineer - Mechanical to manage and implement Can Do capital projects as well as programs that will enhance the revitalization of the Packaging assets. S/he will work on all product stages from research and development to design and manufacture, through to installation and final commissioning. The goal is to design and fabricate components to promote innovation and excellence to our customers and to identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. They must work with the team as well as their crafts counterparts, both management and hourly personnel. They must be capable to communicate, train, develop procedures to ensure proper the USS workforce is fully engaged, trained and prepared for flawless startup of each capital project. RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordination of internal and external resources"interface with the Design Engineering team and Departmental Maintenance team to have flawless execution of the Can Do capital portfolio of projects. Develop commissioning and start up plans. Develop ramp up curve including required substrate requirements. Develop outage plans. Coordinate development of SOP, SMPs, JBSAs, Lockout Procedures, BOM, Spare items listing, Prints, Equipment Tree, and other relevant documents. Design systems and components that meet needs and requirements and are state of the art but also complimentary to current equipment. Conduct factory acceptance testing methodically, analyze the data and interpret results Identify, formulate and produce effective solutions to emerging problems Coordinates with planner/scheduler to ensure that PM/PDM services and inspections are scheduled and performed when due and that resultant corrective work is promptly performed. Provides input to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operations. Provides technical support to production, maintenance management and technical personnel. Applies value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign and make/buy decisions Develops communication and training that includes all operating, maintenance and management personnel Review outage pre-preparation and testing procedures of spare parts Assist departments with long range maintenance planning and development of major spending requests Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues. REQUIREMENTS: B.S. in Engineering - 4-year Technical Degree or equivalent years of demonstrated knowledge in a maintenance environment is required Experience in maintenance planning, preventative and predictive maintenance techniques, lean principles and other proactive maintenance practices preferred High-level of knowledge of plant processes and manufacturing areas High-level understanding and ability to use analytical tools and troubleshooting Reliability engineering experience or demonstration of effective tools and results similar to that of a Reliability Engineer Demonstrated experience with computers maintenance management systems (CMMS) Must have excellent communication skills, good leadership skills, and be able to lead in a fast-paced environment Company Overview Steel is essential to advancing modern society.
