Finance Manager

DEPARTMENT: Finance Department REPORTS TO: General Manager
PAY SCALE: LEVEL I/EXEMPT, SALARY- $40,000-$55,000/yr Eligible for benefits.
JOB SUMMARY: To ensure the highest level of service possible to Dill Pickle Co-op's internal and external customers. To ensure the financial stability of Co-op operations. To provide strategic leadership and long-range planning. To oversee the personnel management of the Finance team.

Exceed our customers' expectations for service and provide a welcoming environment for all in accordance with the Co-op's customer service standards.
Finance Department Responsibilities
Ensure timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends.
Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to co-workers.
Ensure continual improvement in budgeting process.
Oversee finance improvement projects as assigned by the General Manager.
Oversee Accounts Payable clerk and accounts payable department.
Finance Systems
Oversee the budget process. Collaborate with department managers, Board Treasurer and GM to the fiscal year budget approved each year.
Oversee the sales, margin and labor statistics and reporting.
Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
Establish financial reporting systems and controls to ensure compliance with company expenditure requirements and meet customer needs.
Ensure compliance with financial laws and regulations.
Establish new accounts and process credit applications.
Ensure inventory counts are posted accurately and timely.
Maintain membership records and loan agreement files ensuring accurate repayment schedules.
Oversee financial submissions to NCG.

. Managerial Duties
Monitor employee work performance, taking corrective action as needed in accordance with established personnel policies.
Hold regular meetings with department managers.
Ensure that communications to staff are timely, clear, direct, and respectful.
Consult and counsel managers and assistant managers on financial issues as they arise.
Model supportive and participative leadership qualities, promoting team building and motivating staff to achieve departmental goals
Treat staff with consistency and fairness in a style appropriate to a cooperative work environment.
Train, develop, and assist in coaching staff in Financial training and systems.
Conduct effective performance evaluations.
Schedule hours for staff within department payroll allocation.
Ensure finance staff are informed of storewide meetings and policy changes.
Must attend all Board meetings and Finance committee meetings.

Collaborate with Leadership to develop Co-op goals. Assist with implementation.
Develop and implement approved budgets.
Ensure completion of timely and accurate department reports.
Stay up to date on industry trends.
Abide by all Co-op policies and procedures as specified in the DPFC Employee Handbook.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the General Manager.

Understand equations, reports and financial terms used in DPFC's grocery retail management systems.
Apply basic algebraic concepts to read and forecast department budget.

Prioritize multiple demands.
Computer Skills
Use word document software.
Use spreadsheet software.
Use google e-mail and internet software.
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Accounting or Finance and/or comparable experience.
Minimum of 3 years as Controller or Finance Manager for a retail business or comparable experience. Proficiency with the following software: Quickbooks, Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access and a minimum Microsoft Excel intermediate skill level, with the aptitude and desire to become an advanced MS Excel user.
Must be willing and able to learn proprietary software.
Ability to understand government regulations and policies.
