Development Job Description SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The
Sense Product Manager will plan, organize and control the Sense
product line from conceptual stages through agile product life
cycles to develop product value proposition, optimize profit and
meet customer requirements and expectations and corporate growth
objectives. This role will provide technical expertise and training
to other departments in support of Sense product development. This
individual will lead a lean, agile matrixed development process to
drive sales plans, R&D, engineering, operations and financial
plans for product line. The Sense Product Manager must be
comfortable working in a matrix environment, interacting with
senior-level executives and must take the initiative to lead the
business development process from identification of need to minimum
viable product (MVP) to value creation/ monetization. Duties &
Responsibilities SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: --- Manage and lead the
development, implementation, and commercialization of Sense across
the John Crane globally including testing, training and
post-deployment support. --- Balance product inputs between
customer and internal inputs, but heavily weight customer inputs
and spend considerable time meeting customers to understand and
identify problems Sense can solve. --- Drive development of Sense
applications, through an agile approach, that will be tested in the
market and potentially commercialized.--- Focus on running lean,
agile experiments using MVPs, getting solid data from customers,
and then making decisions on product strategy. As we experiment and
learn, product decisions are based upon facts and data, not
speculation.--- Develop product plans that reflect our process of
discovering problems, experiments, and building validated
solutions. Develop problem roadmaps that communicate customer value
by experimenting on features that are aligned with commercial
concepts for monetization and clear KPIs.--- Recognize that the
best ideas can come from many different sources, including
customers, marketing, sales, service and developers. Solicit ideas
from others, and work collaboratively to determine product
strategy. --- Make recommendations to management and leadership
about schedules, prioritization and resource allocation.--- Oversee
the day-to-day activities of projects and staff, communicate with
stakeholders as necessary to ensure complete visibility and ensure
projects are on time and on/under budget.--- Manage day-to-day
product issues and work cross-functionally to improve COGS, cycle
times, and Net Promoter Score/ Customer Satisfaction score.---
Provide all Sense-related reporting to upper management and
leadership teams. The Individual Education/Training: --- Bachelor's
degree required, preferably in a technical/ data-driven field, such
as mathematics, engineering, computer science, or related field.---
Master's degree in business strongly preferred.--- Commercial
experience required.--- Extensive knowledge of agile software
development processes, and specific examples using agile scrum
techniques, required. --- Strong interpersonal skills
Experience:--- Minimum of 7 years of experience, minimum of 4 years
of experience in product management preferred.--- Experience with
agile methodology a plus.--- Demonstrated experience translating
customer problems/ issues/ ideas into tangible solutions.
Knowledge/Skills:--- Fundamental understanding of mechanical seals
and sealing systems.--- Strong internal and external customer
orientation. Knows how to build and maintain excellent customer
relations and gather customer insight and feedback to then
action.--- Strong persuasion and negotiation skills, including
conflict resolution skills.--- Effective relationship builder
within own business area and with other business areas. --- Ability
to work effectively in a professional manner with stakeholders at
all levels: service personnel, technology staff, business
stakeholders, administrators, management and others outside the
organization.--- Excellent communications skills both verbally and
written. Competencies and Abilities: --- Ability to understand and
communicate customers technical requirements--- Comfortable working
