Alternative Risk Solutions currently manages excess of $200 million in gross written premium with a target return on equity (ROE) greater than 25% by providing innovative commercial fronting solutions to well capitalized captive insurers, international reinsurers and regional insurance carriers by maximizing efficient use of capital, minimizing credit risk and eliminating underwriting risk to the parent company, Argo Group US. Alternative Risk Solutions (ARS) has a challenging opportunity for Program Manager that can be filled in any one of our Argo offices or remotely. The position will primarily focus on managing the Workers' Compensation OSP Program and Commercial Package programs, while taking an innovative approach to identifying and implementing solutions for system and data design. This person will also take an active role in critical project work for ARS. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, understand complex concepts, and apply creative thinking to identify solutions to complex problems. The successful candidate will also be agile and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: * Responsible for the daily oversight and administration of the Workers' Compensation OSP (Other States Program) and Commercial Package programs, including relationship management with Administrators, error resolution, data management, auditing, and technical support related to underwriting * Responsible for trust accounts that are held as collateral for unauthorized reinsurers to insure proper disclosure for Argo Group's annual statement * True up annual premium and carrier Workers' Compensation taxes * Independently research system errors and partner with Argo IT to determine and implement long-term, cross-system solutions * Proactively identify and recommend system enhancement possibilities and research Program Administrators' requests for system modifications to determine feasibility * Facilitate training sessions for new users, ensuring they are trained on proper issuance of policies in policy admin system, and provide ongoing customer support * Complete annual file selection and review of all assigned ARS Program Administrators' underwriting files, policies, and projects * Drive consistency in data shipments to all assigned ARS Program Administrators * Lead touchpoint meetings with assigned ARS Program Administrators, providing updates regarding rate/rule filing changes, availability of rates, and any system enhancements within QuickSolver * Provide monthly reports to ARS Management and WC OSP Program Administrators * Act as a technical resource for bureau requests and criticisms, proof of coverage filings and regulatory compliance * Examine and track WC Bureau fine invoices received and work with OSC Program Administrators to reduce fines assessed Qualifications: * Bachelors' degree from an accredited university required * Prior related work experience required (generally 7+ years) underwriting or claims experience in workers' compensation * Must have good insurance business acumen with an understanding an insurance carrier role in fronted business including how this role impacts both Argo Group and our Program Administrators' ability to be profitable * Knowledge of reinsurance and alternative risk program structure including captives, fronting programs and ceded reinsurance * Ability to maintain current ImageRight workflow and handle multiple tasks of similar priority * Ability to articulate the financial value of OSP participation at multiple responsibility levels inside our Program Administrators' business which may include the CEO, CFO, COO and senior leadership * Proficient in working across business units and shared services * Must possess a strong customer focus * Must work independently and demonstrate the ability to exercise sound judgment * Proficient in MS Office 365 and other business-related software * Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills * Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and prioritize multiple short and long-term projects, while meeting required goals and deadlines * Ability to analyze and interpret complex concepts and articulate findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner * Excellent evaluation and strategic skills required * Must exhibit a natural curiosity and demonstrate a desire for continued professional development through continuing education and self-development opportunities * CPCU designation or other IIA designation strongly preferred * Overnight out of state travel for client and company meetings required How We Work - Our Employee Values Employees at Argo thrive together as a responsible, profitable specialty insurer where all stakeholders share in our success.
