Director for Administrative Services, in consultation with the
Dean, Associate and Assistant Deans, and Department Chairs, will
assemble, organize, and oversee the operational framework and human
resources required to support the academic mission of the College
of Nursing (CON). The Director will develop informed and
collaborative relationships with faculty and staff in the College
and across the University and external partners/stakeholders to
ensure a structured and highly efficient academic enterprise. This
position is a key leader in creating effective academic operational
procedures, promoting a culture of continuous process improvement,
and maintaining a systematized academic infrastructure by engaging
the entire University community in meeting the mission, vision,
values, and strategic goals of the College and University. The
individual who holds this position exemplifies the Rush mission,

procedures. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: * Oversees the
management of administrative services including the development,
implementation, and evaluation of CON systems that support the
operations of CON administrative services. * Serves as a resource
to the Dean, Associate and Assistant Deans, and Department Chairs
on issues related to operational and fiscal aspects of all college
programs. * Participates in the strategic short-term and long-range
planning and implementation for college programs. * Leads a team of
academic administrative staff providing oversight in hiring,
evaluation, discipline, and termination. * Serves as a principal
resource of established policies and procedures to the faculty,
staff, and students and communicates such policies/procedures with
all stakeholders while optimizing efficiency and ensuring smooth
administrative operations. * Monitors and enforces established
policies and procedures for compliance with university, federal,
and state regulations and accrediting agencies. * Develops and
implements best practice initiatives in support of CON strategic
plan. * Researches/evaluates data, procedures, policies, technology
and systems to ensure effective, efficient operation and timely
services to all CON stakeholders. Directs and analyzes data for
both internal and external stakeholders; knowledgeably recommends
financial and/or operational changes to create streamlined
automated processes, revenue enhancement, and cost-savings. *
Participates in CON committees; represents the CON on a
university-wide level at the discretion of the Dean. * Develops,
implements, and evaluates administrative work procedures of direct
reports to ensure the efficiency of department functions and
operations. * Oversight and accountability of class schedules,
faculty workload, and operations that impact students - - ability
to access, receive, and complete education (orientation, student
registration, course access, and graduation). * Oversees the
management of administrative staff and program coordinators; hires,
coordinates, directs, coaches, develops/promotes, disciplines, and
supervises. Oversees academic administrative processes that include
certified background, syllabi organization, student LOAs and
withdrawals, agendas and minutes, database design and maintenance,
and other job related duties. * Oversees and monitors the review,
approval, and reporting of all expenditures on academic contracts
and vendor services. Make decisions regarding contract negotiation
and authorization. * Provides for smooth day-to-day flow of
administrative and academic operations, financial operations,
systems, and procedures. * Serves as first point of contact to
resolve employee relations issues and will work with Human
Resources to address further when necessary. * Serves as the
liaison between the CON and MC support services such as
environmental services or maintenance when issues arise or
improvement of services is required. * Other administrative duties
as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * A Master's degree
in a relevant field required, for example, Business, Organizational
Development. * At least five years of work experience in complex
organizational systems required, preferably within an academic
setting. * At least five years relevant work experience as a
professional administrator in a large complex organization, to
include three years of direct budget management experience and
three years supervisory experience. * Must have proven leadership
skills, leadership experience, experience in implementing
leadership change, and organizational design. * Proficiency in
multiple database systems and applicable software packages
including (but not limited to) MS Office Suite (Excel, Access,
PowerPoint, and academic database systems, or an equivalent. *
Professional management and strategic planning acumen; outstanding
verbal and written communication skills; Demonstrated excellent
history of building strong working relationships with diverse
population both within and outside the organization; outstanding
critical thinking and analytical abilities; an orientation toward
data-driven decision making, and a strong commitment to the mission
of the College of Nursing. * Strong commitment to diversity and
