Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated Business Development Manager to
position the company for future growth; acquire new business at
existing accounts and new accounts through the understanding of key
customer needs; support customers with or without distributors in
an efficient, timely, and cost-effective manner; and investigate
and solve customer technical problems with yeast-based nutrients.
This position is remote and will be based out of your home
office.Ohly has manufacturing sites in Hamburg, Germany and in
Boyceville, Wisconsin, USA globally serving their customers
producing a comprehensive range of yeast-based nutrients that are
sustainable and highly effective in fermentation processes.The Ohly
team develops and produces yeast-based nutrients marketed into the
fermentation industry in close collaboration with our customers for
maximum process performance. Ohly's natural ingredients also
deliver flavor to bring out the full taste of food recipes for a
maximum food taste experience. Ohly's other passions include yeast
derivatives that strengthen both human and animal immune systems in
a way that can help to reduce the use of antibiotics on this planet
and, therefore, help reduce the risk of multi-resistant germs in

- Build momentum with existing and new Bionutrients accounts,
enrolling customers to meet or exceed revenue, margin, and
relationship engagement depth
- Utilize in-depth & broad knowledge about microbial metabolism
(microbial biochemistry / microbial physiology), biochemicals,
enzymes, & pathways
- Translate market needs into requirements for supply and
innovation. Influence innovation and continuous process
optimization within Ohly towards the needs of the customers
- Recognize patentable ideas and drive the filing of relevant
patents in coordination with the Bionutrient team
- Participate in training and developing customers, counterparts,
and potential distributors in key technical characteristics of
products and associated applications
- Work within the Bionutrients team to develop business
- Identify and develop customer relationship maps to fully
understand stakeholders in an account
- Maintain a robust opportunity pipeline of new business in both
existing and prospective accounts
- Develop, document, and implement account plans &
strategies
- Work with other Ohly team members to resolve customer issues,
answer questions, or provide guidance and support
- Coordinate with other team members to create and implement
capabilities presentations, technical demonstrations, and
presentations
- Develop business case scenarios for new products or new
applications to achieve new business growth and meet customer
requirements
- Achieve growth targets for sales of new products & new
applications
- Traveling is required for this position. Expect approximately
25% of time spent traveling to customer locations. Regular travel
to Ohly facilities in Chicago, Illinois; Boyceville, Wisconsin; and
Hamburg, Germany. Must be able to lift and carry 20 lbs., on
occasion.Experience and Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Fermentation Sciences, Biomolecular
technology, or related field
- Demonstrable knowledge of fermentations at multiple scales
including industrial, pilot, and bench-top
- Demonstrated market and technical knowledge, presentation
skills and professionalism
- Excellent planning, organization, multi-tasking, and
problem-solving skills
- High energy, positive attitude, goal oriented, self-starter,
motivated, disciplined
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with aptitude in building
relationships with professionals at all organization levels
- Strong personal computer skills including Outlook, Excel,
PowerPoint, CRM, MS Teams/Zoom, SkypeNice to have:
- 10+ years of application or business development experience in
the fermentation industry
- Advanced Degree or equivalent in biotechnology, applied
microbiology, fermentation sciences or related discipline
- Relevant experience with bionutrient companies (either working
for or calling on)
- Knowledge or experience selling Bionutrients with special
recognition for fermentation nutrientsOhly operates based on our
