countries. It was founded and is led by Nobel laureate Michael Kremer.
Job Summary
-The Development Innovation Lab (DIL) at the University of Chicago is seeking a full-time Associate Director. In this role, the Associate Director will help incubate and develop DIL's projects across the world, with a specific focus on India and Latin America. This position manages academic, research, clinical or administrative programs.

To be successful, the candidate will need to have strong experience working in policy outreach or communications related to development economics research, be a highly dynamic and analytical individual who can excel in a diverse set of responsibilities from working with partners to translating academic research into policy memos that are accessible to a broad audience.Responsibilities

  • Helps incubate and drive projects and partnerships in India and Latin America, including working closely with the Faculty Director to identify promising research and policy innovations and governments to incubate and grow those innovations.
  • Hires and onboards new team members to deliver on the goals of these projects and partnerships.
  • Grows the work of the Innovation Commission on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change, especially working with country governments to test and scale innovations.
  • Recruits, hires and trains new recruits to the DIL team, especially in the countries in which we work.
  • Develops strategies for government engagement and fundraises to support these strategies as needed.
  • Collaborates closely with the research teams, consulting with them and pulling them into relationships as appropriate.
  • Manages program budgets and recommends or makes budgetary recommendations.
  • Has a deep understanding when interacting with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
    Minimum Qualifications
    -Education:Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.---
    Work Experience:Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.---
    Certifications:---Preferred QualificationsEducation:
    • Master's degree in economics, public policy, international development including significant training in communications strongly preferred.Experience:
      • Prior experience working on policy communications and outreach.
      • Substantial experience working in developing countries.
      • Experience working with developing country governments.
      • Five or more years of relevant work experience.Preferred Competencies
        • Demonstrated ability to maintain high-level relationships with governments, international development practitioners, and/or academic researchers.
        • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
        • Demonstrated project management skills, including working across teams and ability to manage the time of high-level principals efficiently.Working Conditions
