The Opportunity
Hyatt seeks an enthusiastic Sr Manager, Platform Engineering to
join our Technology department. In this role, you will manage a
team of highly technical engineers and architects which work
closely with application development and operations teams to
support and enable tooling, controls and processes for development
and code promotion to advance these departments towards greater
SDLC automation and continuous delivery. The resource must be able
to understand, follow, and in some instances help define the
company's software delivery policies and best practices.You will be

The Role
The Senior Manager of Platform Engineering will manage a team of
highly technical engineers and architects who work closely with
application development and operations teams to support and enable
tooling, controls, and processes for development and code promotion
to advance these departments towards greater SDLC automation and
continuous delivery. The resource must be able to understand,
follow, and in some instances help define the company's software
delivery policies and best practices.
The ideal candidate has a balanced understanding of institutional
operations practices and modern application development within an
enterprise ecosystem. This role will, in concert with application
development, operations, and architecture, manage the delivery of
supporting platforms that provide structured code releases and
infrastructure provisioning changes with quality gates while
improving delivery speed by leveraging a diverse technology stack
and automation.
We're looking for a self-starter who can work without close
supervision from senior leadership including direct oversight of a
departmental cost center/budget.
This role requires a deep understanding of scripting languages and
how to interact with multiple systems across networks. Advantageous
if heavily experienced with configuration management concepts,
Docker, clustered ecosystems, API calls, and public/private
cloud.
---Ensure the 24x7 availability and reliability of automation
pipelines, development operations tooling, clustered computing
(e.g., Docker / Kubernetes), and reporting (e.g., Splunk, New
Relic, et al.) infrastructure
---Manage relationships in partnership with procurement with key
suppliers, vendors, and service providers
---Evaluate industry best practices and apply them as appropriate,
keeping senior management apprised of trends and emerging
technologies
---Keep abreast of the latest advances in hardware, tools, and
technologies useful for fulfilling strategic goals
---Mentor direct reports to further develop their soft and hard
skills
---Interface directly with application development and IT
operations leads and engineers to architect, deploy, and support
automation and CI/CD initiatives
---Manage and be responsible for a departmental cost center
Qualifications:
Experience Required:
---10 years in IT operations
---10 years of large enterprise experience, including 24x7
operations and continuous availability
---5 years of leadership experience
---Operational experience with automation, orchestration,
virtualization / public cloud, release pipeline, metrics
collection, and clustered computing technologies such as Docker,
Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Artifactory, Rundeck,
Splunk, VMWare, Azure, and AWS
Experience Preferred:
---Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related
technical field
---Infrastructure Engineering, Technical Operations,
Virtualization, Security Engineering, Networking, Automation, CI/CD
Pipelines
---Strong Agile and DevOps experience preferred
