Job Description:
Job DescriptionResponsible for developing, monitoring, and
analyzing the product costing structure to meet established
profitability levels at the specific facility; develops long- and
short-term raw material purchasing strategies that ensure costing
targets are met; manages and works closely with a variety of other
facility departments and Corporate functions to implement approved
strategies. Manages the facility's supply chain functions including
scheduling, materials, formulations, traffic, and shipping and
receiving.Develops and manages financial models used to evaluate
raw material purchasing strategy needs and program efficacy.
Identifies impact of both pass through and absorbed cost changes
and implements strategies to optimize formulation
profitability.Works collaboratively with facility level Operations,
Quality, and Accounting departments as well as Corporate
Purchasing, Sales, and Product Development to develop and implement
procurement and costing strategies and to identify and resolve
market and customer influences on profitability as relates to
material sourcing.Works to achieve least cost formulations that are
supply sustainable and meet customer and company quality
requirements. Also works with Cost Accounting to ensure formulation
savings are realized.Establish facility level purchasing and
inventory strategies, based on knowledge of material management
concepts, to govern daily purchasing and inventory practices and
processes.Evaluate and approve vendors, based on organization
standards and within approved authority levels, and authorize
purchase orders for goods or services. Manage vendor relationship
by resolving issues arising from late or incorrect shipments and by
establishing vendor performance standards then monitoring, and
taking corrective action where necessary.Work with production
management to plan and forecast customer orders to determine raw
material needs and required inventory levels. Establish inventory
and safety stock levels, order points and lot sizes. Measure
lead-time to inventory investment.Document material and inventory
requirements, including all codes, specifications, brands and
contact information necessary to process orders.Analyze changes or
new issues in materials and supplies on a continuous basis to seek
ways to reduce cost, improve quality and improve operational
efficiency. Submit recommendations in material changes to
management for approval before implementation.Maintain purchasing
and inventory data in applicable tracking system, i.e., warehouse
management or enterprise resource planning.Create and generate
routine and ad hoc functional reports for use in reviewing
activity, evaluating processes and identifying opportunities for
improvement.Participate, as a team member or leader as assigned, in
organization-wide purchasing, inventory, cost containment, and
safety initiatives.Develop, implement, and support departmental
SOP's.Participate in any audits, internal or external, as required
by providing relevant information about purchasingand inventory
control processes, practices, or data.--Perform other duties as
assigned.Required SkillsBachelor's degree in Business, Food
Science, Animal Science, Agribusiness, and Procurement is preferred
or related field or equivalent subject matter expertise, analytical
ability, and communication skills acquired through working.7+ years
of experience buying, costing, operational in a food manufacturing
environment required.Expert knowledge of food manufacturing,
formulation, ingredient sourcing, and costing methods.Ability to
communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, at
all levels.Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve
successful outcomes.MS office suite proficiency (Word, Excel, and
Outlook proficiency min. requirement).Bilingual is a plusWork is
generally performed within a manufacturing environment subjected to
temperatures of cold and warm along with wearing the proper PPE,
with standard office equipment available along with
plant--manufacturing environment.While performing the duties of
this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend,
walk, use hands or finger, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, or
controls; may be required to lift up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities
