Human Resources Employee and Labor Relations ManagerThis
position requires on-site work in Chicago, Illinois.ABOUT

essential work.SUMMARY:Under the direction of the Vice President of
Human Resources, the Employee and Labor Relations Manager is
responsible for all aspects of employee and labor relations for the
agency. The incumbent will counsel management on the performance
improvement process, employee/management mediation, disciplinary
actions, employee separations, and administer IAFC's employee
recognition program.This incumbent will be expected to promote and
adhere to the workplace core capabilities of: accountability,
customer focus, continuous quality improvement (CQI),
communication, competent people, and clear priorities.ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Employee Relations/Client Relations: Counsel employees and
managers on a variety of issues including work relationships,
communication problems, personal issues, employee morale, and work
concerns. Oversee employee rewards and recognition programs and
educate management on utilization. Participate in the preparation,
analysis, and presentation of related reports as needed.
- Labor Relations: Assist in administering and interpreting
collective bargaining agreements, conducting incident
investigations, and evaluating evidence. Participate in
negotiations and grievance settlements with the Collective
Bargaining Unit. Handle formal grievances by meeting with employees
and the union representative, writing up responses.
- Performance Management: Provide training and counsel on
performance management, performance improvement plans, and
employment law. Identify training and development needs for
management. Assist in developing new employee engagement programs
and policies.
- Communications: Assist HR Director with the communications and
interpretation of Human Resource policies and programs. Facilitate
HR trainings and meetings.
- Other Functions: Perform other duties as assigned or
appropriate for this position.SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES:Incumbent will supervise an HR Generalist or HR
Coordinator position.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree
required, and 5 - 7 years of human resources experience in employee
relations or HR generalist role. 2+ years of supervisory experience
preferred. Previous experience in interpreting and administering
collective bargaining agreements is preferred.OTHER SKILLS AND
