Job Description:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* M.D. degree from a school of medicine in
the United States which is accredited by the Liaison Committee on
Medical Education, a school of medicine in Canada which is
accredited by the Committee for Accreditation of Canadian Medical
Schools; a D.O. degree from a school of osteopathy which is
accredited by the American Osteopathic Association; or a degree
from foreign medical school with either a permanent certificate of
the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates or
comparable credentials from the Medical Council of Canada*
Successful completion of a residency in Neurology accredited by the
American College of Graduate Medical Education* Certification in
Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or by
the American or by the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology or
if not certified but board-eligible, achievement of the
certification within five years of the completion of residency
training.* Current and active licensure as a physician in the state
of Illinois by the Illinois Department of Financial and
Professional Regulation or ability to obtain license prior to
starting employment* Current controlled substance licensure by the
Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and
controlled substance certification by the federal Drug Enforcement
Administration or ability to obtain license prior to starting
employmentKnowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics*
Knowledge of the medical subspecialty of Neurology.* Sound
judgement* Knowledge of when to seek consultation* Ability to work
with others in the care of patients, well-developed interpersonal
skills* Ability to effectively teach medical students and resident
physicians* Ability to manage a medical service of residents and
students* Ability to maintain compassionate, respectful
relationships with patients* Ability to work effectively under
pressure* Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing*
Ability to utilize the electronic medical record* Ability to
maintain patient confidentiality* Ability to do moderate lifting up
to 45 pounds, to walk and stand for prolonged periods, to use
hands, legs and fingers.* Physical and mental coordination, normal
sight and hearing, ability to tolerate exposure to unpleasant
noise, odor and temperature.* This physician is able to work in an

State ID Card or Driver's License which identifies the holder of

territories and Canada must be credentialed by an approved U.S.
credential evaluation service belonging to the National Association
of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of
International Credential Evaluators (AICE). Original credentialing
documents must be presented at time of interview.Must successfully
meet the credentialing standards established by the Cook County
Health and Hospitals System to include a State of Illinois MD
license and any other license, certification, or specialized
training, etc. no later than two (2) weeks prior to the candidate's
