Job Summary
The focus is on providing post anesthesia/deep sedation care and
immediate post procedure monitoring for removal of large vascular
access devices. Patients are then transitioned to the next level of
care. This includes the preparation of the patient/
family/significant other for care in the home or the provision of
ongoing care for those patients requiring extended observation or
transfer to an inpatient unit.

BLS
ACLS
PALS
Airway management
Sheath management
Knowledge of anesthetic agents and adjuncts
12 lead EKG interpretation
Phlebotomy
Malignant hyperthermia management
Sedation/Analgesia: assessment and monitoring
Pain and comfort management
Post Op Nausea/Vomiting management
Thermoregulation management
Physiologic system review and assessment
Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
Neurologic assessment
Perianesthesia fluid management and resuscitation
Acid base balance evaluation/ABG interpretation
Respiratory and ventilator management
Cardiac pharmacology
Elective cardioversion management
Post surgery/procedure specific care, to include assessment and
potential complications
Age specific care
Safety and infection control measures
Cultural sensitivity
Critical thinking/analysis
Job Requirements and Qualifications
Demonstrates organizational ability, in order to set priorities,
organize workload and handle multiple responsibilities to recover
patients in a timely manner
Ability to work at a fast pace and handle multiple interruptions
and adjustments to priorities throughout the day
Demonstrates the ability to delegate to assistive personnel
effectively
Proven knowledge of all Epic functionality related to patient
recovery and discharge
Must be able to communicate effectively and to handle calmly and
efficiently recovery situations ranging from routine to
emergency
Demonstrates communication skills that are necessary to teach
patients and families
Is attentive to and seeks to satisfy patient and family discharge
needs
Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with team
members
Is highly self motivated and demonstrates the ability to work
independently with minimal supervision
Demonstrated record of good work attendance , punctuality and
flexibility with assignments
Other Information
Is expected to float to other recovery areas as needed or flex
down, taking low census PTO based on daily census
Responsibilities occasionally may require an adjusted work schedule
to match changing patient flow demands
Is expected to participate in night , week-end and holiday call on
a rotating basis
