Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner NP/Physician Assistant PA,
Weekend Nights/DaysJOB SUMMARY
The Physician Assistant /Nurse Practitioner reflects the mission,
vision, and values of Swedish Medical Group, adheres to the

complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and
other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Physician Assistant /Nurse Practitioner functions as part of a
multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges
approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality,
cost-effective advanced care to patients. The PA / NP is
responsible for the health outcome of an assigned patient
population and consults, confers, and collaborates as needed to
ensure best patient outcomes.
This NP/PA role will cover weekend Night/Day shifts Fri/Sat/Sun.
Shifts may vary between 7a-7p, 3p-3a, 6p-6a, 7p-7a. Night to Day
shifts back to back will not be assigned on the same weekend.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
Clinical
* Completes and documents an accurate history and physical
examination of patients
* Conducts comprehensive or episodic health assessments and
develops patient care plans
* Provides primary prevention strategies and management of chronic
health problems.
* Orders and interprets tests, treatments, and therapies within the
scope of practice
* Prescribes medications, diet, supplies, prosthetic devices, and
other home health aides or medication according to clinical
privileges
* Provides clear, concise, and accurate information regarding
patient care in the medical record
* Provides education to patients, families, and significant others
using established education materials
* May provide other clinical duties within the scope of practice as
directed under the emergency plan
Professional
* Advocates for patients, families, co-workers, the community and
the health care profession
* Integrates evidence-based knowledge and clinical expertise in
decision-making
* Participates in peer review and competency assessment
activities
* Seeks experiences and formal and independent learning activities
to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills and
knowledge
* Establishes an effective relationship with the collaborating
physician Day to day patient contact/rounding/care management that
actively encourages and includes professional input from all
members of the patient care team.
PATIENT CARE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Day to day patient contact/rounding/care management that actively
encourages and includes professional input from all members of the
patient care team
* Partner with Hospital Services to Ensure that transition of care
is seamless.
* Works in inpatient environment as a hospitalist.
* Working with case managers to ensure appropriate length of stay,
efficient use of resources, and appropriate follow-up care. This
includes supervision of planned discharges for appropriateness and
timeliness.
* Assists with quality improvement activities as requested.
* Performs other duties incidental to the work described
herein.
QUALIFICATIONS/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
Nurse Practitioner:
Education:
* RN degree from an accredited school of nursing
* Advanced degree from an accredited school or college of
nursing
Licensure and Certifications:
* Current license as a registered nurse
* Approved APRN board certification
* Advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license- Acute Care
Nurse Practitioner
Skills:
* Preferred minimum 2-4 years' experience.
* Effective leadership skills
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively
* Demonstrated written and verbal communication and strong
analytical skills
* Effective interaction to ensure the successful care of patients
in the clinical care setting
* Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate
billing
Physician Assistant
Education:
* Degree from an accredited physician assistant training
program
* Master's level training preferred
Licensure and Certifications:
* Physician Assistant License
Current Certification as a physician assistant by the National
Commission of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
ENVIRONMENT
* Possible exposure to chemicals, blood/body fluids, air-borne
diseases.
* Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting
patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand
coordination.
* Requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time.
* Occasionally lifts and carries item weighing in excess of fifty
pounds.
* Requires normal visual acuity and hearing.
* Each employee is trained and is expected to observe all fire and
safety procedures and blood born pathogen and hazard communications
standards.
* Requires working under stress in emergency situations and during
irregular hours.
