Title: REGISTERED NURSE - EMS OPERATIONS COORDINATOR
Scheduled Hours:
Full Time Opening (80 hours a pay period)
Days: Monday-Friday schedule
On call as needed after hours, weekends and holidays
JOB SUMMARY:
More than 40,000 people a year come to Advocate Illinois Masonic
Medical Center (AIMMC) for emergency care. AIMMC is a Level I
Trauma Center which includes a trauma bay in addition to general
emergency and behavioral health emergency designated beds.
The EMS Operations Coordinator assists in coordinating the
operational aspect of the Chicago North EMS System in accordance
with standards set forth by the Illinois Department of Public
Health EMS Division. The Coordinator implements approved protocols
and policies under the EMS Manager's leadership to ensure state and
local compliance.
The EMS Operations Coordinator assists in the assurance of safe
practice and patient care delivery in the Chicago EMS System.
Acts as a liaison for the EMS system in conjunction with the EMS
System Manager to all internal and external contacts.
Assists in design, development, and distribution of initial and
continuing education in conjunction with the CEMSS Education
Committee. Education is provided for EMTs, Paramedics, ECRNs, First
Responders, ECPs and additional entities as needed.
Assists in tactile operational duties of the CEMS System.
Provides Administrative Support and assistance to the EMS Manager
in various operational aspects.
Position Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Current Illinois RN License
Current CPR, ACLS and PALS Certification
Must possess at least 3 years' experience in an Emergency Room
setting
EMS/Field experience of 5 years preferred
ITLS, PEPP and or ENPC preferred
Lead EMS Instructor Certification preferred or documented teaching
experience
Certifications/education required for the nursing specialty. (ECRN
must obtain within 1 year of hire; CEN must obtain within 2 years
of hire; TNS or TNCC preferred)
Associate must be available for on-call, 24/7. May need to work
occasional evenings, nights, week-ends or holidays depending on
potential EMS activities that may occur.
Must be physically able to ride in ambulance (step up/down into
vehicle) assist with carrying EMS equipment, participate in
"infield" patient care with ambulance crew.
Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate critical thinking
skills.
Good communication skills
Good computer skills. Intermediate knowledge of several software
applications is preferred. Ability to create spreadsheets and Power
Points
Ability to work independently
Good time management and organizational skills
