HCBS supports individuals with disability in living in the community. The mission of this NIDLIRR-funded RRTC is to support the improvement of person-centered community living outcomes for people with disabilities who use these services. We are looking for someone to help guide the development of research documents for the studies related to this grant-funded project. We are specifically looking for someone with training in research methodology and manuscript development. For more information about the projects: https://www.sralab.org/research/labs/CROR/projects/home-and-community-based-services.The Research Associate II conducts research projects/studies in an SRAlab laboratory that requires deep technical expertise in a relevant discipline such as health services & administration, health policy, public health, disabilities studies or other research in other relevant fields. The Research Associate II will typically work as part of a multidisciplinary team that will require the ability to translate one's discipline to others who do not possess as deep a knowledge base. The Research Associate II should have an explicit understanding of the research methods and measures relevant to laboratory projects, and be able to develop project deliverables independently.The Research Associate II will consistently demonstrate support of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab statement of Vision, Mission and Core Values by striving for excellence, contributing to the team efforts and showing respect and compassion for patients and their families, fellow employees, and all others with whom there is contact at or in the interest of the institute.The Research Associate II will demonstrate Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Core Attributes: Communication, Accountability, Flexibility/Adaptability, Judgment/Problem Solving, Customer Service and Core Values (Hope, Compassion, Discovery, Collaboration, and Commitment to Excellence) while fulfilling job duties.Job DescriptionThe Research Associate II will:* Plans and designs research studies, and leads implementation of key research activities.* Performs and interprets complex statistical analysis.* Prepares technical documents describing results of research, both for scientific audiences and funders* Prepares non-technical documents describing results of research for lay audiences.* Provides recommendations for and implements quality control and quality improvement of research activities.* Develops research proposals as appropriate.* Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.Reporting Relationships* Reports directly to the Laboratory Director or Project ManagerKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Required* Work requires a professional level of knowledge acquired by completing a Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline, or a combination of Master's degree and significant work experience. Deep knowledge of research methodology is required.* A high level of analytical ability is necessary in order to design and implement research and to perform complex statistical analysis. Analytic ability may also include mathematical modeling or simulation.* Interpersonal skills necessary to write detailed explanatory reports and articles and to verbally communicate results of research at meetings and conferences. Proven ability to lead and motivate direct reports.* Ability to plan the work of, assign work to and follow-up on the work of a research technician, graduate student or laboratory resident.* Ability to plan and conduct experiments and analyze resulting data while balancing the needs of the laboratory, the institution and the individual.* Clinical or applied experience working with people with disabilities is ideal.Working Conditions* Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
