The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiac Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time tenure track Investigator at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position will be housed within the Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Lurie Children's Hospital with cross-functional responsibilities. Responsibilities include partnering with surgeon-scientists on developing innovative engineering solutions to common cardiac operations, developing and securing an independent line of extramural funding, working closely with our innovations programs on developing patent applications, and mentoring other scientists in this area.Qualified candidates will hold a PhD in biomedical engineering, materials science, or similar degree path. Expertise in working with surgeon-scientists to create solutions which have broad applicability. The ideal candidate will also have surgical prototype development experience.The start date is negotiable and the position will remain open until filled.The expected base pay range for this position is $115,000 - $150,000 per year with annual merit increases dictated by performance. Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position.
