Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Correctional - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 11/24/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days, evenings, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Summary: The Correctional Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality nursing care to inmates or detainees within a correctional facility. The RN delivers patient-centered care, promotes wellness, manages chronic and acute conditions, and ensures a safe and secure healthcare environment in collaboration with the custody and medical staff. Key Responsibilities: - Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and deliver direct patient care in accordance with facility protocols. - Administer medications, treatments, and vaccinations as prescribed. - Manage both acute and chronic medical conditions common in correctional populations. - Respond to medical emergencies and provide triage and first aid when necessary. - Assist with intake screenings, physical assessments, and mental health evaluations for new inmates. - Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and mental health professionals to ensure continuity of care. - Document all patient interactions and treatments accurately in the electronic health record (EHR). - Maintain infection control standards and ensure proper disposal of biohazardous materials. - Promote health education, disease prevention, and adherence to treatment plans. - Adhere to facility safety and security procedures at all times. Requirements: - Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience; correctional or emergency/acute care experience preferred. - Licensure: Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of assignment (or compact license). - Certifications: - BLS – Basic Life Support (Required) - ACLS (Preferred) - Skills Required: - Strong assessment and triage skills - Ability to work independently in a secure environment - Excellent communication and crisis management skills Job Summary: The Correctional Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality nursing care to inmates or detainees within a correctional facility.
