Job Description:
The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of
Cardiology, and Comer Children’s Hospital is seeking full-time
faculty members at any rank to serve as Pediatric Heart Failure and
Transplant Cardiologists. Appointees will join a thriving academic
and clinical environment, with responsibilities including
outpatient clinics, inpatient consultations, procedures, and
cardiovascular diagnostic testing, as applicable to the specialty
field. Other duties will include scholarly activity and training
and supervision of trainees and students. Appointees will be part
of a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty and learners at
UChicago Medicine (UCM), the Biological Sciences Division, the
Pritzker School of Medicine, and across the University of Chicago
and its affiliates. The appointee will join the multi-disciplinary
University of Chicago Pediatric Advanced Therapy Program, which
currently has two faculty members, three dedicated Advanced
Practice Providers (APPs), two nurse coordinators, a dietician, a
psychologist, and a social worker. Appointees will have an
opportunity to participate in all aspects of program development,
clinical research, and serve on multiple national committees.
Beyond the University of Chicago, the appointee will make important
contributions to the Chicagoland Children’s Health Alliance (CCHA)
Cardiovascular service line. The CCHA is a partnership between
Comer Children’s Hospital, Advocate Children’s Hospital, and
Endeavor Health. The CCHA Heart Program is among the nation’s top
congenital heart disease programs in the country. The CCHA Heart
Program includes 30 attending cardiologists, 10 categorical and
advanced cardiology fellows, three pediatric cardio-thoracic
surgeons, and a dedicated cardiac anesthesia service. CCHA cardiac
surgeons perform over 500 cardiac operations per year and achieve
outcomes that rank among the best in the nation (STS-CHS-Database).
The program has one of the highest ambulatory clinic volumes in the
country, with clinic sites throughout Chicago, the Chicago suburbs,
Northern Illinois, and Northern Indiana. The cardiac program is one
of the largest in the Midwest and provides expertise in
echocardiography, advanced cardiac imaging CT/MRI,
electrophysiology, interventional cardiac catheterization, fetal
cardiology, adult congenital heart disease, Marfan Syndrome,
Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, cardiac critical care, preventative
cardiology, cardio-oncology, pulmonary hypertension, and advanced
therapies for heart failure. The Heart Failure team in the CCHA
Cardiovascular service line consists of two dedicated attendings,
three APPs, and two nurses. The proposed rank and compensation are
dependent upon qualifications. These positions are

medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical
licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) have completed an
ACGME-accredited fellowship in pediatric cardiology, 4) have
completed a fourth year of additional training in pediatric heart
failure and transplant or have significant experience in
transplant, and 5) be Board Certified or Board Eligible in
