Job DescriptionIn business since 1935, Daubert Chemical Company
is a profitable, family-owned specialty chemical manufacturer and a
market leader in the brands that we sell to our end users and
distributors. We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor
for our 2nd shift Operations at our plant near Midway airport. As
the Production Supervisor, you are responsible for managing plant
employees to meet manufacturing schedules on 2nd shift. You will be
coordinating production operations and maintaining effective
quality procedures and safety regulations for the facility.
Complete performance appraisals, show strong leadership, provide
guidance, and conduct disciplinary proceedings when required by
adhering to the Company's policies and applicable laws. The
expectation is to continuously work towards improving operations by
leading changes within various departments under management or
recommending them to management. Rotational weekend work is
required when necessary for business operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to the following-
- Lead by example in working safely; ensuring all work gets done
without incident. Timely reporting of injuries, damage and near
misses that are critical to risk management.
- Promotes positive teamwork and healthy interaction in the group
and have a regular presence on the plant floor.
- Ensuring work being executed to process production jobs is in
accordance with SOP's and safety guidelines.
- Communicate with 1st shift production supervisors and
scheduling (as needed) to review the status of daily production
schedule (batches in process) to understand priorities. Plan and
establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to
meet production goals. Effectively manage raw materials and flow so
production is executed without interruption.
- Monitors production equipment, issuing and following up on
maintenance work orders for repair to ensure the process is
reliable for the operators.
- Conduct or assign employee training on equipment operation,
work practices and safety procedures; ensure assigned employee
training is effective and completed on time.
- Measure decisions versus budget restraints and be able to
explain deviations.
- Applies 5S tools to improve and sustain work area orderliness
and cleanliness.
- Adherence to ISO 9000 quality practices and procedures.
- Evaluate and document employee performance within all
applicable deadlines. Recommend and execute employee actions such
as resolving conflicts and problems, hiring, discipline, or
promotions in conjunction with HR.
- Must be capable of filling in on production line when needed
for essential activities.
- Informs management of any issues or problems on a job so that
product quality is not compromised and deadlines are met.
- Ensures that all manufacturing documentation is accurate and
completed on time.
- Place orders for department supplies.
- May need to directly communicate with local regulatory, safety,
and health authorities in the event of a plant emergency.
Responsible to make decisions to send employees for treatment in a
medical emergency. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIESAssociate degree
(A.A.) from accredited college or technical school and minimum 3
years related experience in chemical manufacturing; or equivalent
combination of education and experience in chemical manufacturing
is required; batch making experience in manufacturing operations is
required. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Prior lead or management
experience is required. OSHA certification strongly preferred. Must
be proficient in Microsoft Outlook; working knowledge of internet,
intranet, data entry and reporting; Word and Excel are highly
desired. Use of ERP system is required daily. Timekeeping database
experience; monitor and manage team members timecards, time off
requests, etc. in ADP.
- Understanding processes and mechanics of production line
equipment.
- Ability to be an on-shift resource for troubleshooting problems
in the process
