Join us!Internship Learning Outcomes:As an Embedded Software Engineering Intern as a Power and Connected team member, you will be part of the research and development of new Smart Doors and Smart Door Accessories. By partnering with some of the largest companies in the IoT ecosystem, these products will be an innovative step forward in smart home connectivity. The integration of power and connectivity helps simplify everyday life for a user while also ushering in advanced safety and security features.We are looking for candidates who thrive in a fast-paced start-up-like environment. To be successful, you need to be highly motivated and detail-oriented while showing the highest standards of responsibilities. In this internship, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in New Product Development (NPD). Working as a team with other interns, you will go through an accelerated NPD program to develop a proof-of-concept prototype of a new product idea.In addition, you will be participating in a program that encompasses:

  • Approximately eleven-week summer assignment at Masonite's Innovation Center in West Chicago, IL.
  • Development of personal and professional skills through training, networking and mentoring relationships
  • Interactions with senior leaders during intern activities such as lunch-and-learn events and leadership dialogues
  • The opportunity to build teamwork skills through interaction with other interns and colleaguesLeadership Relationships:
    • Research & Development Leadership in multiple areas of the Innovation CenterResponsibilities and Accountabilities:
      • Design, test, and debug embedded software used for prototyping and product verification testing.
      • Build, test and modify product prototypes using Arduinos, Rasberry Pi and other rapid prototyping methods.
      • Perform variety of tasks to support engineering analyses, report production, and designs
      • Research and report on new technologies/trends
      • Assist in the testing of the electronics and embedded software on our existing products.Minimum Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
        • 2+ years of College Engineering Courses in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
          • GPA: 3.3 minimum
          • Knowledgeable in C/C++/Python
          • CAD & 3D modeling competencies
          • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite and other business applications
          • Integrity and Confidentiality
