Northbrook, IL (permanent facility Summer 2026) Job Type: Contract (3 Months) Pay Rate: $38.00 per hour Per Diem: $150/day (7 days per week) Shifts Available: \n \n 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM \n 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM Overtime: As needed Experience Level: Senior Swiss Set-Up Machinist (8 years experience) \n \n \n Why This Role Exists\n HuFriedy Group is expanding production capacity for precision medical and dental instruments and requires experienced Swiss setup specialists to support complex, small-part manufacturing programs during a facility transition. \n This role focuses on maintaining throughput, quality, and machine performance in a high-mix, high-precision Swiss machining environment . \n \n The Work You’ll Be Doing\n In this role, you will: \n \n Perform complete setups on Swiss-style CNC machines, including tooling, guide bushings, and offsets \n Load, verify, and edit CNC programs to ensure safe and efficient operation \n Install and align tooling, materials, and workholding to meet tight specifications \n Conduct first-piece inspections and verify dimensions using precision measurement tools \n Troubleshoot machine issues and optimize cutting performance \n Maintain production efficiency and part quality across complex small components \n Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and operators to improve processes and reduce downtime \n Train or support operators and less experienced setup personnel as needed \n Maintain accurate setup documentation and process records \n Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and production standards \n \n \n Machines, Controls & Software\n You’ll work hands-on with: \n \n Machines: Swiss-style CNC lathes \n Common Brands: Citizen, Star, Tsugami, or equivalent \n Controls: Fanuc or similar CNC controls \n Programming: G-code editing at the machine \n Inspection Tools: Micrometers, calipers, gauges, comparators \n \n \n Materials You’ll Work With\n \n Stainless steel \n Specialty medical alloys \n Small-diameter precision materials \n \n \n What We’re Looking For Required \n \n 8 years of CNC setup experience , including Swiss-style machines \n Ability to perform full setups independently with minimal supervision \n Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills \n Experience with precision measurement of small, tight-tolerance parts \n Proven troubleshooting ability in a production environment \n High attention to detail and commitment to quality \n \n Preferred (Not Required) \n \n Experience with Citizen, Star, Tsugami, or similar Swiss machines \n Medical or high-precision manufacturing background \n Fanuc control experience \n Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement exposure \n \n \n Why Machinists Take This Contract\n \n Strong hourly rate daily per diem paid 7 days/week \n Advanced Swiss machining work — not basic operator tasks \n Opportunity to support complex precision manufacturing programs \n Clean, organized medical manufacturing environment \n Immediate start with defined contract duration \n \n \n Pay, Per Diem & Schedule\n Pay Rate: $38.00/hr Per Diem: $150/day (7 days per week) Contract Length: 3 months \n Shifts Available: \n \n 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM \n 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM \n \n Overtime available as needed. \n \n Apply\n Experienced Swiss setup machinists can apply directly through hireCNC . \n Apply Now or save this role to come back later.
