Job Description:

This critical role leads a team of Employee Relations Senior Specialists and Specialists across the Americas region, overseeing the resolution of complex employee relations matters, performance management issues, policy violations and interpretation, and the investigation of employee complaints and/or conflict resolution on behalf of the company. He/she identifies and leads through gaps which may exist in perception, understanding or performance expectations between employees and management, and advises solutions which uphold JLL's principles related to fair and equitable treatment of its employees and the best interest of JLL. The Employee Relations Lead proactively anticipates possible challenges related to employee matters and makes recommendations to mitigate risk to the firm. The Employee Relations Lead demonstrates an understanding of the needs of the business and the employee, and recommends appropriate and fair actions to support those needs. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Leads by example as player/coach and works on most complex cases while serving as escalation point for ER Senior Specialists and ER Specialists, demonstrating best practice
  • Analyzes and optimizes use of resources to enhance productivity and effectiveness, directing the activities of ER Specialists and ER Senior Specialists
  • Oversees and conducts investigations of potential violations of employment laws, including but not limited to Title VII, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and NLRA
  • Routinely advises on highly complex ER cases/problems by evaluating pertinent information, analyzing findings, and applying relevant Company policies and practices to reach a conclusion.
  • Provides expert guidance and recommendations to decision makers in partnership with legal on the highest risk and most complex issues
  • Provides expert consultation, guidance and coaching to leaders and HR Business Partners on high risk/complex issues--to address employee behavior and performance concerns
  • Provides expert consultation with respect to reasonable accommodations, termination requests, reduction in force and other related areas
  • Demonstrates mastery in understanding of leaves of absence and related employee actions
  • Oversees broad range of employee actions ranging from complex leave treatments, performance counseling, terminations and mass reductions in force
  • Leads with data to produce strategic, proactive recommendations to HR and the business to proactively address and mitigate systemic issues and to sustain a positive work environment for JLL employees
  • Oversees case management, appropriate records of investigations and ensures routine audits of ER work
  • In conjunction with Legal, oversees labor relations matters
  • In conjunction with Legal, oversees HR compliance matters SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES TECHNICAL
    • Expert breadth and depth knowledge of employment, wage and hour, FMLA, and EEO laws and regulations
    • Excellent ability to gather, synthesize, analyze and report ER data
    • Highly developed skill in understanding and teaching about data, trends and the impact of that information on the team and company
    • Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and WebEx or other telecommunications software-- INTERPERSONAL
      • Proven work experience in managing others and building high performing teams
      • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
      • Excellence in exercising good judgment in making independent decisions with a high degree of tact and diplomacy
      • Expert collaboration, conflict resolution and negotiation skills with the capability of coordinating with diverse disciplines
      • Proven ability to recommend and/or apply appropriate action based on policy/procedure and/or business practice
      • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and inherent application of discretion
      • History of well-developed integrity and ethical behavior
      • Proven ability to maintain neutrality and calm demeanor in tense/conflict-ridden situations-- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
        • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial or Labor Relations or other related field
        • Post-graduate experience in Human Resource or Legal, preferred
        • 7-10 years of employment relations experience-- SYSTEMS USED
