Senior Platform Enablement Manager is a trusted and strategic partner to the senior leaders of Allstates Technology and Strategic Ventures organization. The manager is expected to collaborate with talented platform and cloud engineers and development resources within the team and work through most complex functional and non-functional challenges and drives technical excellence at all levels, supporting senior management to execute the organizations hosting vision with solutions such as Platform-as-a-Service(PaaS) and Container-as-a-Service(CaaS). This role involves leading the team that will enable key capabilities allowing a transition to a Kubernetes-based hosting solution for Allstate and Family of Companies (FoC).
He or She should provide clear direction and priorities to align multiple engineering teams to executing against the defined vision. This manager also recognizes and removes barriers, creates enthusiasm and a desire to succeed within the teams, accurately assesses the strengths and development needs of team members. Additionally, the role will promote a strong reliability culture by partnering with software engineering, security, and architecture to solve operational problems as required.
The manager plans, directs, designs, and executes programs that are of a complex and critical nature. The manager selects, leads, counsels, motivates, sets expectations and evaluates medium to large teams. Additionally, they confer with and advise direct reports on administrative policies and procedures, risks, issues, problem resolution, sourcing decisions, budget and priorities. This person also assists in defining, implementing and prioritizing IT policies, procedures, and best practices. The Band E Manager impacts team and business results. Key Responsibilities
Demonstrate ability to apply business knowledge to achieve work objectives, working closely with our clients in meeting their business needs, the use of business understanding when dealing with others, critical evaluation of how technological advances will affect the ability to interpret business data, the understanding and following policies, processes and procedures in my area, and the ability to discuss Allstate's business objectives, culture and values
Understands Allstates core business drivers as demonstrated by the ability to articulate our business objectives and their alignment to Allstates strategic direction, successfully prepare long-range plans for a project, prioritize objectives into manageable and measurable units, and practice Allstates policies, processes and procedures. Manages day to day work of employees by monitoring budgets, expenses and scope and facilitating project delivery and support for complex products of critical importance.
Possess a mastery level understanding of delivery leadership demonstrated by the accomplishment of results through influence, coaching, communication and commitment with minimal use of authority and control, the successful resolution of conflicts and disciplinary problems, the ability to successfully deliver communication to all management levels without requiring support and instruction from others, identify and break work down into discrete and measurable tasks, set priorities, define dependencies, schedule activities, prepare acceptance criteria and organize work for one or more large projects.
Inspire trust and confidence in partners through strategic and diplomatic handling of relationships with senior business and IT leaders with the goal of building, planning, assessing, and prioritizing work.
Design, develop, analyze, and report on critical metrics that provide insights into overall health ensuring that complicated information is delivered effectively and efficiently.
Understand and champion existing processes while continually investigating industry best practices and challenging the status quo to support continuous improvement.
Builds long-term relationships within team and amongst peers by creating an environment of safety and innovation
Analyzes long-term impact of new or anticipated strategies and contributes to Allstate business and functional strategy.

Undergraduate degree in engineering, computer science, information systems or related degree, MBA/MIS/MS desired
Proven knowledge of and interest in Kubernetes/Cloud Foundry or similar distributed container technologies and have the skillset to drive adoption for these platforms
Experience managing a global distributed team of engineers across the various engineering practices including extreme programming, product mindset, cloud/as-a-service approach, and infrastructure as code (Golang, Ruby, terraform, ansible or equivalent)
Passion for new technologies and pushing the boundaries of what is possible, with a view to building products that improve how people operate software and infrastructure everywhere
Experience operating in an environment driven by KPIs where you have the accountability to determine the best course of action to meet your goals
Proven experience with infrastructure services, application integrations, and automation
Excellent written/verbal communication and facilitation skills for communicating at all levels (employees and leaders); including strong presentation skills
Strong analytical and communication skills with ability to develop executive level communications
Comfort with ambiguity and able to independently drive resolution of issues and challenges Compensation
Compensation range for this position is $100,000 - $155,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications
The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
