Overview

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the installation and maintenance of the GATX enterprise network, security and telecommunications infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, implementation and support of network infrastructure and services, including IP, MPLS, SD-WAN, VPN, Wireless, LAN and VLAN's.
• Work with IT and other business units to help plan, design, and implement network services and security solutions.
• Produce network implementation and migration plans as needed.
• Monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of network services, including QoS, bandwidth management, security policies, and network resilience.
• Maintain enterprise-wide IP address Management, DNS and DHCP.
• Maintain firewall services and policies as needed.
• Provide 2nd level support for Cisco Unified Communications and Collaboration platform.
• Provide network and VoIP support to help desk personal and remote offices.
• Produce and maintain technical design documentation.
• Provide appropriate support training and assistance to staff as needed.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with GATX IT and business units.

Qualifications

• Four year degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience. Cisco Certification (CCNP/CCIE/CCNA), or equivalent experience.
• 5 - 10 years relevant work experience with Cisco networking.
• Extensive experience in working with IP routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF and EIGRP.
• Experience in working with SIP and other VoIP protocols.
• Strong knowledge and experience in configuring Cisco Switches, Routers, QoS, and VLANS.
• Knowledge and experience in configuring Cisco Wireless infrastructure.
• Experience in working with telecom providers.
• Experience in working with structured cabling design and implementation.
• Experience with Cisco ASA's, ISE, PKI, Umbrella, Netscaler, Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Collaboration is a plus.

• Must be able to work in industrial environment while adhering to safety requirements

• Ability to climb ladders and use hand tools as needed
• Ability to lift 60lbs and rack and stack servers, networking hardware and UPS's
• 15%-20% travel may be required
