Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is the third-largest school district in the United States, serving over 340,000 students in 600 schools and employing nearly 36,000 people, most of them teachers. As the designee for the Chicago Board of Education, the Office of Innovation and Incubation (I&I) authorizes and manages a portfolio of 131 charter, contract, and option schools and programs serving approximately 60,000 students. The School Quality and Support Coordinator serves a critical role in I&I. Reporting to the Director of School Quality and Support, this individual is primarily responsible for promoting school quality and improvement, assisting with the overall charter academic and school improvement strategy, managing the academic remediation process, coordinating academic training, and drafting and executing communications. The School Quality and Support Coordinator is also responsible for special projects and process documentation. The School Quality and Support Coordinator will be held accountable for the following responsibilities: Typical Duties/Responsibilities: * Researching and facilitating the sharing of innovative programs, practices, and resources to help schools engage in continuous improvement * Providing school improvement support (i.e., Academic Remediation Process, at-risk schools, and ISBE identified schools) to schools and governing boards while respecting charter autonomy and the promise of innovation * Assisting with strategic initiatives, leading convergence and projects with various academic and support departments, and cross-collaborating with I&I teams * Creating, drafting, and updating school support process documentation and strategic plans * Assisting with the analysis and review of academic data and school ratings to identify areas of growth and learning demands * Assisting with the coordination of parent support and phone calls, responding to inquiries (within 24 hours), including SAFE program communication support Type of Education Required: * Bachelor's degree Type of Experience Required: * At least one to three (1-3) years of professional experience in a school district or education-related agency * At least one to three (1-3) years of relevant project management experience in school leadership support, and/or school improvement preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills * Strong communication skills (speaking - including presentations - listening, and writing), including developing external communication documents for a wide range of audiences and effectively addressing stakeholder concerns and inquiries * The ability to receive, internalize data, and respond to feedback from department leadership, manager, colleagues, and external partners for continuous improvement * Ability to help define problems, analyze data, and outline valid conclusions and action steps Residency Requirement: As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and must maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
