Our Fortune 500 client, a company in the professional services space, is seeking a COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR, focused specifically on internal communications, to join its growing communications team and report into the Director of Internal Communications (in case you were wondering...yes, you'll have a great boss. Best manager, teacher, and mentor Just saying.).
Storytelling is a key part fo this team and as a Communications Coordinator you would be a key part of this rapidly-growing and incredibly awesome and intelligent Communications team that values curiosity and creativity above everything else.
So... if you have been asking the universe to PLEASE send you an amazing communications opportunity...where you don't have to work with media but get to work with incredible humans of all levels - from juniors to executives, create fun engaging content (and support events!) that make employees excited about their work and company, and get to use those A+ writing / journalism skills you developed in college then read on for the "formal stuff" those standard job descriptions have:

  • Write! All things from social posts to internal announcements to blogs to e-newsletters to employee profiles. You'll adapt the company's unique voice with guidance from your manager.
  • Develop creative, funny, and informative content ideas for various internal communications channels, including newsletter, company-wide meetings, presentations, and emails.
  • Translating confusing and complex information into simple, creative, and unique ideas,
  • Review communications campaigns to assess their effectiveness and propose solutions for any gaps or misses.
  • Copy edit to triple check that every fact is accurate and detail is recorded.
  • Help with executive communication projects, including talking points and Q&A responses.
  • Find award and speaking opportunities and fill out applications as requested.
  • Media monitoring and insights reporting on many topics - sometimes outside of work hours.
    • Must be able to come into the Chicago office 3 days a week (please do not apply if you are looking to be fully-remote).
    • 2 - 4 years of public relations, communications, or content creation experience in a corporate environment.
    • Excellent writing skills are a MUST while a journalism degree or equivalent work experience is a big plus. Ideally you know how to write different different audience and can adapt different voices and tones with experience.
    • Some experience working with senior executives - professional demeanor is key.
    • Passion for content development and storytelling using multimedia (even more helpful if you have photography/videography/content creation experience).
    • Knowledge and general understanding of social media and digital engagement (in other words, you use social media and can share ideas for how to engage others!).
    • Experience in any of the following industries is a nice-to-have but not required: political campaigns, financial services, or real estate.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
    • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus.
    • Enthusiastic and ambitious - the team likes working here and they want someone who is equally excited - also, no one likes a Debby Downer.
    • Experience working in a typically fast-paced environment on short and long-term deadlines.
    • Must not be afraid to ask questions and take strategic risks - after all, that is how you grow.
