EMR Application Specialist

Job Description:

This position supports efforts that build and sustain organizational excellence at Esperanza, with an eye towards building organizational equity and generating opportunity. Working closely with the Vice President of IT, this position will ensure the success of day-to-day learning activities at Esperanza. Big picture, we want to foster an organizational culture of learning & curiosity in primary care that allows our teams to grow and flourish and this position will play a pivotal role in that process.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Work closely with department leadership to support learning and development solutions that address key organizational needs, with a focus on electronic medical record (EMR) training and optimization2. Serve as the primary contact for training and supporting various admin and clinical staff members on Athena One3. Execute key administrative tasks that may include setting up meetings between stakeholders both inside and outside of the organization, documenting findings around learning design and content creation, scheduling and managing training sessions, or developing and preparing new training materials4. Travel between sites as need arises5. The EMR Specialist will work with the Athena Support team to manage Athena One system for new and existing locations6. Supports implementations, optimization programs, system upgrades, new-user education, and general needs of application-relevant end-users7. Translates the functionality of the system configuration and workflow validations into a training environment; provides presentations and prepares and manages requirements for training sessions in collaboration with the project team8. Manages the Athena system regarding user access permissions, communicating updates and/changes and ensuring the system is meeting the needs of the organization9. Works with internal and external implementation team to develop timelines and training schedules for new acquisitions10. Help creating Training videos, documents, emails etc.11. Conducts audits of users to ensure the appropriate permissions are granted based on position12. Terminates access when appropriate13. Works with compliance department to ensure the integrity of the EMR system is maintained14. Drive continuous improvement through trend reporting and analysis on key metrics15. Build, generate and analyze reports16. Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously within flexible time frames17. Perform other duties as assigned18. Provide customer service in accordance with clinic mission19. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with two years of experience OR equivalent work experience (minimum four years)at healthcare organization, required
  • EMR experience, required. Athena, preferred
  • Knowledge of HTML, preferred
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Clear verbal and written communication
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
