Duties and Responsibilities



  • Supervises JD instructional design team

  • Provides sound instructional design support to School of Law faculty in the design/redesign of online and hybrid courses. Identifies and implements best practices.

  • Collaborates with faculty to develop curricula and identify instructional material needs.

  • Advise faculty on best pedagogical approaches for design, rubric development & assessment.

  • Determines appropriate media and technologies for course delivery.

  • Consults with faculty to evaluate effectiveness and recommends changes regarding course design, technology and instruction delivery options.

  • Develops and conducts workshops to teach School of Law faculty how to use and integrate technology.

  • Develops documentation and manuals as required.

  • Effectively communicates (within the ID team and to stakeholders) project statuses and other work deliverables

  • Supervises the build of JD courses and individual course modules.

  • Manages all ongoing projects of the JD Instructional Design team, including assessing new technological needs, course quality assurance, and instructor on-boarding.

  • Supervises the auditing of courses for ABA compliance AND Quality Matters implementation

  • Effectively communicates (within the JD Instructional Design team and to stakeholders) project statuses and other work deliverables.

  • Performs related duties as required.











    Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

    Master's degree and three to five years of experience in instructional design, instructional technology or related field required. Equivalent combination of experience may be considered.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and project management skills and attention to detail. Must have ability to develop and implement instructional design best practices for web-based and hybrid learning. Ability to develop and maintain collegial, productive work relationship with law faculty and academic department colleagues.









    Certificates/Credentials/Licenses

    Bachelor's degree and/or two or more years of experience in instructional design, instructional technology or related field required. Equivalent combination of experience and/or related education may be considered.









    Computer Skills

    Loyola University Chicago uses Sakai as the learning management system and has well-developed technology support. Familiarity and/or experience working in Sakai (or another enterprise learning management system), Zoom, Panopto and Articulate Storyline are strongly preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet and email applications. Strong working knowledge of HTML, web, graphic and video design methodologies and applications, web technologies, and computer-based training software required. Strong aptitude for learning new technologies.
